Notified by Thomason Rivers of award that is to be delivered by Fed X. Ten A. M. Dec. 08 09. Recieved call 12/08/09 at 8 A. M. from a government agency that funds are due. Called Rivers to find out that funds are due in the amount of $2575.00 as the Award wasn't claimed on time. Called Government at 972-332-3582 and money and credit card discussed. Returned call to Rivers at 877-778-4716 and discussed the money owed and how it could be taken care of. As of now I can't get an answer at 972-332-3582 and Rivers is telling me that it is my problem. Call credit card - no money, no Check for $49500,00 is coming so I must not have won the award I was told was mine.

Send me a check...

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, December 10, 2009

If you send me a check for $2,895.32, I will send you your winnings..

Of course I am kidding..but people actually send money when told they will receive winnings etc...unbelievable.

my response would be..."kindly deduct any amount owed from my winnings..and keep yourself a $1, 000 fee, send the rest to me, thanks'

Common Scam

This is a common scam. The real Publishers Clearing House does not charge you to claim anything you won.

I certainly hope...

I hope you did NOT give your credit card information to that alleged
"government agency"!

That 972 number is a phone located in Allen, Texas - I doubt seriously
that  any "government agency" is going to charge a penalty because
the "award wasn't claimed on time" much less one located in a small
town in Texas.

Reference: (((Redacted)))
I do believe you have been scammed, especially if you devulged ANY
credit card and/or bank account info.

Also, check your phone billing - although an 877 prefix is generally a
toll free number it is also the area code for many numbers in the
Smithers, BC, Canada area. If you were dealing with the "Rivers"
person AND the call was made to Canada, well, you've been scammed.
