hello everyone, i'm from the uk and came across this site whilst looking into a suspect 300 us dollar cheque that i recieved today on my return from work.

The cheque that i received is from Qchex, and i have now read about lots of people being scammed by being asked to cash cheques for people and wire money using western money transfer, my case seems to be a little different. I think it's different because i have not been contacted by anyone with regards to a cheque. i've not sold anything to anyone or agreed to do anything for anyone. It seems just totally random!

The other wierd thing is that i went onto the qchex site to see if i could track the originator of the cheque and found that i'm a registered user of the site!!! i've never even heard of the company before today. I thought i'd put in my e-mail address and click the "forgot password" link. I did this and when i was logging on i was told that my account is a suspect fraud case.

Because i live in the uk i've not been able to get in touch with them yet but i would like to know why i never received a confirmation e-mail from the company when someone set it up in my name?

Anyone got any idea's???

Speak to a laywer

AUTHOR: Clay - (U.S.A.)

Speak to a laywer about the bank wanting to take the money back.

You have email proof of this person or people sending you the money orders?

yesterday when investigating a qchex check the guy at bank of america mentioned something that if the bank cashes the money order or a check you don't always have the obligation to pay it back.

Go to legalaid since you are on disability. this is why they are there.

I got ripped too!!!!

I also was scammed. Only difference in my case is I was selling items on ebay and someone contacted me about the items on my listing through my email address. wwell we made a deal and a few days later when I came home from taking a small vacation to my parents I recieved a check for 1000.00 dollars.

Now Before I left for vacation The same thing happened to me only I recieved 3 money orders for the items in the amount of 950.00 for all 3. US Postal Money Orders. I cashed them at my bank and paid off my overdue bills.

I am on disability so money is not a luxury and that is why i was selling on ebay hoping to make extra money to make ends meet. Well when I got home from vacation my bank had called and when I called them they told me the Money orders were COUNTERFEIT!

I could not believe my ears because they looked so real and the bank cashed them. Well they told me they were going to call me back so I waited. They called me back and told me I would have to bring whatever emails I had and that I would have to agree to a payment plan to pay this money back.

I was appalled I thought wait a minute I got scammed and I have to pay for it. Well then the bank called me back the next day and said they had to have all 2850.00 back by 3:00pm that day or they would press charges.

I told them they knew I was on disability and there was no way I was going to pay it back. I did nothing wrong and I should not have to pay it back. So I am still waitinfg to be served papers to go to court.

This all took placer yesterday on the 21st of June. I have anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder and when they told me that I had one of the worst attacks I have had in a long time. Anyone have any ideas for me or have a similiar experience?
