I was not even aware when I got my letter, but like most telemarketers at Quicken, I never received a verbal warning. I know of one rep who called out the management since he knew the law. Once (mis)Management were called out, they gave him a verbal warning. This bought him a couple of weeks to find legitimate employment. So everyone should remember to mention this fact to the folks in charge of the class action suit. Also, any current telemarketers going through this, and you need some time to find legitimate employment, use this fact to buy some time and milk a couple weeks more out of these scumbags. Call in sick and go interview constantly.

#7 UPDATE EX-employee responds

to stephen

AUTHOR: Malachai - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 06, 2008

I normally do not converse with other ex-quicken employees. But i will this time.
Steve, i have seen you posting on here a while. you have noticed and see the sad nature of these people...wow, it is getting worse.

As far as my points, thank you. but i am not smart, nor am i too smart. i just believe in what i am saying.

as far as this:
"Question-Who makes more per hour, an average Quicken Banker or a burger flipper?"

that depends...at quicken they definately make "more". but if you try to break it down to hourly, its a tough call. Including commission, i would say a quicken banker by about .70 (yes, 70 cents). This is based on math a group of us worked on at quicken, detailing a spreadsheet that explained the actual hourly rates at quicken, given ACTUAL time worked. even at 8 hours a day (ignoring extra time), it was pretty bad. You can certainly make more as management just about anywhere, and as far as mcdonalds or BK, franchising makes great money if you have the skill and patience. but no one bought in to quicken could possibly do it. Now, when they quit, and get their brain and soul back, they could easily look into opening up franchises or dotcoms. Both relatively easy ways to make some money, if you have patience and focus....ok getting off track.

Here is the overall problem:
quicken sells more to its employees than it does to potential clients. there are more "commercials" for quicken in the average workday at the office than there are on tv for comsumers in a week. Why?

Answering that question, is easy. And the answer is what proves wrong every pro-quicken comment ever posted here.

Like I said though, i am working on a pro quicken argument. while i am conversing with non-pro-quicken people...

I just want to say the remaining parts of Quicken Loans: The Sale were not posted due to a few legal issues, as well as the majority of the information being turned over to NKA, in one form or another. I will continue to post however, and any pro-quicken post will meet the real TRUTH. I long for a day where one of them can post a good argument though. I challenged thetruth to, even if it is not about quicken, but he gave up...doesnt quicken teach people to be go getters and all that? what happened? they are all quitters now. oh well...just hire some more...

Malachai, you make some great points and describe the circus to the last detail. But you are much too smart to be wasting your time on this Quicken PR guy.

Question-Who makes more per hour, an average Quicken Banker or a burger flipper?

The Truth: read

AUTHOR: Malachai - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 04, 2008

Ok 'truth'...you spew junk yet again, but fail to answer to anything I said...So, like your name says...it must be the truth.

Is this the new quicken ism:

"Hey burger fliper...I'm guessing it's because you suck that bad at sales... remember steven I asked for my burger with no lettuce and extra cheese. Also is there a charge to supersize?...So shut your mouth you dumb a*s order taker...and while you are at it I'll take a double burger with cheese!!!"

It is a great ism, for anyone who no education beyond 5th grade and dead end job and dannys mortgage hut. It always makes the quickies feel better to demean others as well assume...and this is funny..."if you don't work at quicken, you work at burger king"...hilarious. Like I've said, Bill Gates must be the profitable burger flipper ever, because he never worked for quicken. And the list of famous rich bankers at quicken? ....here it goes...heres the list....

1.) quit
2.) fired
3.) overdose
4.) broke

nevermind...

You also said this:
"do you remember filling out paperwork when you were hired? Quicken loans is a private company and an at-will employer."

ok...relevance?????? private company ok...means nothing. at-will employer is the dumbest term ever, and all it means is "quicken wants you to sign this so you know we can fire you for no reason" GUESS WHAT...other than slavery...every job in the world is at will employment. Name a job you cannot quit or cannot fire you? I can't...besides slave labor.

"This means that you can be fired or can quit for any reason without any notice."
Actually, you are dumb... I mean...wrong. That is to say, it does not (and cannot by law) mean without NOTICE...it means: without reasonable cause or even stated cause. Quicken is claiming they do not have to tell someone why they are being terminated. That, as well as many other practices, are in speculation.
Just so you know, speculation means under scrutiny...well, scrutiny means people are checking it out...oh what the heck...who cares about words and definitions and knowledge...not you....

so here...ill save you the trouble of responding because you are an imbecile with nothing substantial to say:

You are all burger flippers who cannot cut it at sales. you got fired by an at-will employer and deserved it. Only the strong survive. Redbull. Coke. Sales. Leads. Call block. Arc. Arp. Bridge Close. Hard Close. Soft Close. swear words. harrassment. over priced cars and suits. overpriced watches. high testosterone for absolutely no reason. faux hawks. striped shirts. cell phones. reall bad borat impressions. quoting the movie boiler room (and yes, i mean quoting as in, believing in and enjoying the lowlife, yuppy, mindset). living with mommy. dating someone at quicken (because where else would you meet a girl? you live in your cubicle). more redbull. quicken is for people who stick it out, always learning and improving. it is a great job, but difficult. its hard work. its a real career. more red bull. an email reading "I got my first set-up"...which leads to 1000 emails saying "awesome (and with a random pointless picture attached"...then that leads to the comment "throw some green in it?...which finally leads to a director somewhere (after HOURS of pointless emails during work hours) to finally say (in email of course) "hey guys, stop it, its call block...lets sell some loans!!!"...which leads to lunch. every goes out to eat, because that is the time to catch the sun and see real humans on the outside (kind of like playtime at prison). then, back to call block...where the director says "why did you take a lunch"...to which you reply "youre right, im not focused enough" (and you mean it)...then you sit at a cubicle and dial 40-100 more people (well, at least you dial that many times, maybe only 30 leads in the call queue to access)...then you get an email from training, so you can go to senior banker or flight training...you go there...it is more overpriced suits with overly self important heads on them saying the same old stuff "you got to believe it man, sell sell sell...clients love confidence...blah blah blah...later you get back to your desk, your director says "where were you?!?!" you say "training" he says "oh...",,,, he didnt know because quicken has no management training or structure...then you all clap because someone got a setup. a set up is not a loan. it is not anything. it is a refundable deposit. it is the same as the cover charge to get into sams club. then you clap again later, when someone gets a "folder"...still not a sale...no no no ...just signed documents...meaning, they agreed, again, to do the loan. so thus far, someone has received two giant applause for absolutely nothing, and a million more emails go out...

why you ask? because even if a group of people (and this is a proven sociological effect) are motivated and pumped to do something useless, rediculous, and meaningless...just being inspired and having endorphins means those have to be released. SO...everyone works harder and dumber based on a daily circus of meaningless and fruitless celebration...not sales...meaningless milestones that grant the APPEARANCE of success. just like quicken...appears successful...but only in that a handfull of people are rich. the rest are the coal shovelers.

If you dont believe that, then the next time you clap for a set up...REMEMBER IT. then a month later, ask the banker if he got paid on it...if not...WHAT DID YOU CLAP FOR? You can get commitment all day, selling cell phones. if you cant program it though...guess what...NOT A SALE. JUST A LEAD YOU MADE FOR SOMEONE ELSE. quicken is NOT sales. it is a false sense of value, worth, appreciation, and to be honest, lies.

but hey...you like it, so more power to you. if you actually like that sort of thing, thats cool...but dont knock someone for noticing how dumb you are when you do it.

And please, try responding with something different next time. if you keep saying burgerflipper and stuff, everyone is going to just completely ignore you...didnt you learn that at any sales job? do not overly repeat things...customers lose interest.

well, brush up on your sales, practice your ABC's...and see if you can write me back and actually convince me that I am wrong and you are right. Let's practice some sales attributes here. If you come back with burgerflipper stuff you are getting tuned out. Dont be a clear channel radio station and play the same 3 songs over and over. Try being original too. Actually think dude! Convince me! I am more than willing to listen. I will read what you say without bias, as long as the effort is there...you can do it man, I don't even care at this point about quicken...i want you to write, and write well. write something cool and convincing. pretend I am a client and you need to sell me on quicken not being so bad. the job is good..and so on.

I know it can be done...i am just sad no one has done it yet...could you be the one who pulls it off?

I am writing one, a pro-quicken argument. it is difficult, but turning out good. Ill post it for you eventually here when I am done.

By the way, intelligent writing, or at least some decent writing will not include stuff like this:
"ha ha ha ha ha ha ha lol lol lol lol lol LOSER"

when you do that, i picture the fat kid from the goonies.

I will await your response my friend.

Cry me a river of bad posts

AUTHOR: Malachai - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 21, 2008

He cannot write a rebuttal. He can only recite the rhetoric that Quicken teaches him. It is sad, but true. Also, Quicken did do wrong by not laying people off properly, but it also fails to live up to:
Standard business ethics
Standards in management
The sale it presents for prospective employees and customers alike
Its own stated Isms' and transparency
About Quicken rhetoric:
The whole you can't cut it and should choose a different career path thing that directors and RVP's like to spew whenever things are down. Here is the deal: this fails on numerous fronts. Firstly, Quicken is not a career, it is a job. It appears to be a career for the choice few, because it is the choice few who make any money. Even these choice few, can be fired at any time for not playing into the Quicken concept of making money (which is all it is about, get real, it is a company, for profit, they are not looking out for anything but the bottom line).
The it is not for everyone thing this is a common psychological tactic used groups to inhibit a sense of belonging, and to deter lack of conformity. I could start a cult based on worshiping Little Debbie snacks right now, and when people have doubts, I just say It isn't for everyone This rhetoric does two things for me:
1.) makes sure the ones who stay feel like they are part of a group
2.) shuns the ones who might differ in opinion or threaten my reigns of control on the group
This is a very basic group identity tactic, and that is why management (I use this term very loosely) is instructed to say it, and often. We must have heard this at least 3-5 times a week from directors.
The concept that if you cant write loans then own up is simply ridiculous. Again, for the millionth time, the sales capacity of any one employee is not in question. In fact, many here (I know this to be factual) were very competent and good sales people for Quicken. I myself, was very good, and liked it, for a while. The issue at hand is not this however it is the ethics, lack of standards, lack of integrity, and most importantly lack of accountability amongst Quickens leadership and management. None of these things exist there.

He also said it is important to not bash people for the skills they lackfirstly, I don't think anyone here lacks sales skills. Furthermore, just because you work at Quicken does not mean you have sales skills. Thirdly, you are bashing people for skills that you lack, which is hypocritical. The skills you are bashing are: basic writing and grammar skills, the ability to see things for what they are, and the ability to realize what is right and wrong and to not be a sheep amongst the herd. I am sorry you lack those skills, but don't bash us for it.
At any rate, I am rather confident I have sold more people on not working with Quicken (or at quicken for that matter), than you have sold people on the idea that it is a good company.
Bottom line: sales effectiveness is simply communication effectiveness with a cause. Your cause, is dead. The only people who agree with you further MY cause by posting garbage that turns people off to Quicken. You guys just don't get it. It is really sad. That is why I am trying to work on a rebuttal FOR you, since none of you can write one. I am working on writing a Pro-Quicken argument, to the best of my ability. This will by far, out shadow yours, and then, I will demolish it with truth afterwards. All with just a few minutes of my free time.
That means I am using two things you don't have:
Communication skills
Free time.
All relatively easy for me and no sweat off my back. Hey, the next time you are between call blocks and you are going over your loan statusesjust remember man: you can walk out, get a real job. Don't be the librarian from Shawshank Redemption; realize you are not institutionalized.

How about a Rebuttal?

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 18, 2008

I made a comment that Quicken was desperate to layoff about half the sales force so they failed to give warning letters to employees. You didn't dispute this because it is fact.
If Quicken would have "done the right thing" and just laid off people like legit companies do when they are struggling, most of the posts wouldn't be on here. When a company does shady things and breaks labor laws, they will lose lawsuits and have their name dragged through the mud on sites such as this.

Own up & accept responsibility for you're own actions...

AUTHOR: Cry Me A River - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 12, 2008

You have to consider that if you write 2-3 loans a month you will not make any money and you should consider a different career path. Furthermore, when you know the expectations are held lightly at 8-12 per month and you only write 2-3 then you probably are going to be let go. I would agree that its not for everyone, but if you can't write the loans then own up, move on and most importantly don't bash people for what your skills lack.
