Red Phoenix International - Mike Mounter Mounter's got a lot of chutzpah but not much else...well, an impressive website if it is up when you look for it and if you don't really read what it says. This is a one man show. He advertises for sales and marketing people but it is a burn out job. Want to do direct sales for a Fortune 500 company? You don't need this guy...go direct. This is a pretty good scam, meaning if you have two cents and any sense... you'll copy him, not work for him. Mike tells you right off that he's a marketing genius and that he will train you to be just like him...in ten or twelve months. In the meantime, he wants you to go out and make cold calls for Staples, ATT, and a few others. He's skimming a % off each person's productivity. Why would you do that for him when you could go straight to the "Fortune 500" company yourself?

The worst part is that he has his 'office staff' (two tattooed girls stuffed behind a desk in the crowded waiting room) booking everyone who responds to his ads -- and they are everywhere -- for an appointment. If you've never had a job before, ok fine. The office today was filled with disgusted senior executives, like me, who were told the interview was for a management position, as the ads say.

Don't waste the gas, he's hiring everyone who has a car and lacks the sense to question how they will be paid.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

RPI is a Scam!

AUTHOR: J.j - (U.S.A.)

Sooo,.. Where should I start?

I'm ashamed to say that I was one of the suckers that got sucked into working for Mike at RPI. He said all it would take to get your own office was to work hard and bust your a*s for a few months. He neglected to tell me that I would be making NO money and spending tons of money on gas and other expenses with out getting any of it reimbursed and also a lot of a*s kissing if you want to get any where in that scheme.

On the phone they tell you,.. base plus commission, don't let them fool you. Yes he will offer you a base which isn't gonna even cover your gas money. He makes the commission only, set up sound amazing (which its not!) that you will take it, but he then forgets to tell you that you probably won't make more than $100 a week. And when you finally decide to talk to him about it he'll tell you it takes time. Yeah Right! While I was there (which was about 2 months) I probably saw about 15 people get hired and quit because they made no money.

He prides himself in owning his own company,.. well let me tell you something! These morons don't own their own company! They have their own little shitty office, but ultimately they are all run by Cydcor. They all answer to Cydcor and obey Cydcor's rules. If they don't,.. their crappy office gets taken away from them.

If you're thinking about going in for an interview, ask them what their turn over is and why it's that high.

If RPI was so successful Mike wouldn't be wearing such cheap suits every day!

Don't even waste your time going on an interview there! It's not even worth that!

Red Phoenix Scam? NO it's a JOB

So I understand Joe's frustration as a senior executive arriving to an entry level position interview. I dont know where he got the idea that anyone was hiring for a management position because nearly all the positions offered are entry-level. If you have a good work ethic and are good at sales you WILL be promoted in less than two years to have your own office. The ads are everywhere because some people just arent made for sales and they dont last very long, therefore the turnover rate is high. The girl at the front desk with the skull and crossbones tattoo... ok enough said.

The point is, Mike Mounter did not start this company it is part of THE outsourced sales and marketing industry and nearly all Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies use. There are branches all over the country and chances are every salesperson you see works for one. Mounter worked his way up as a salesperson at a different branch and was promoted to start his own branch, like anyone else could be if they are good at it.
Joe is right, if you are not good at sales or interested in sales dont waste your gas or time because chances are you will be fired in a week anyway.

AUTHOR: Why Are You So Mad? - (U.S.A.)

I used to work at a company just like this one in the past. From what I read above, I guess the manager has a lot of "chutzpah", which is a good thing and is necessary in sales and marketing. That's more than I can say about the manager that I was working for who was too scared to cross the street ha... Maybe that is why you, "Joe", are an OUT OF WORK EX-EXECUTIVE. This business was not for me because I just was not very good at it, and that is it. I wasn't good enough and I can admit that. "Joe", or whatever your name is, why are you so mad? You should be happy someone gave you the opportunity for an interview. You apparently weren't good enough at what you were doing or you would still have a job! It sounds like "Joe" is mad that with the economy being the way that it is, there are only mostly entry level jobs available.

To let the rest of you know, the managers don't take a percentage of what you earn. How dumb do you have to be to believe that companies like Staples, At&t, etc. would be involved with companies that are scamming people LMAO! Get serious. And when was the last time you went and knocked on the door of Verizon's Corporate office and asked them to trust you to be their direct sales and marketing representative? This career is great for some and for others, including myself, it will open your eyes to your strengths and weaknesses and maybe should be behind a desk all day (Like Me). If Red Phoenix actually invites you in for an interview, I would suggest you go and check it out for yourself, instead of taking "Joe's" word for it.
