Reys Pizza Charges Homeless Tax Miami Florida
*General Comment: wow!!!!
*Consumer Comment: This tax is not a scam
I went to Rey's Pizza to pick up an order at 11:30pm last night 8/30/2014. This morning when I looked at my receipt I see a charge for Homeless Tax and they charge me a 50 cents take out charge for each pizza I had ordered.

Instead of doing YOUR part to see if it was an actual ripoff, YOU IMMEDIATLY jump online and show the ENTIRE WEB the level of YOUR ignorance. Must be hard as hell for YOU to not only admit that not ONLY were YOU wrong but what YOU have done here is WRONG!!! Save making posts until YOU have been ripped off. All THAT business has done is what is REQUIRED by the county and state that they operate in. What YOU have done is besmirch the reputation of a business that HAS NOT ripped you off.

This tax is not a scam or ripoff - its county law in Miami. Here's a link that explains the tax, how its calculated, and how it's used to help the homeless.

I think it's unfortunate that the restaurant is being called a ripoff when they are simply obeying tax law.
On the flip side, you can avoid this tax by going to restuarants that don't sell alcohol or make less than $400,000 a year in sales.
