Richard L Edwards auctioneer I was given $30.00 for all my household furniture, tools, appliances! Greenville Ohio
*REBUTTAL Owner of company: Untrue report
After filing for disability I hired Edwards auction to sell all my belongings so I could have funds to survive while I waited for Social Security Disability. I thought I would make at the least $500.00 and to my shock I received a check for $33.00. He sold brand new beauty rest bed. Corner china cabinet, cordless tools. 4 air condtioners, ladder,...and all else. My parents were quite upset and so was I because I will never be able to afford these items again. He basically stole from someone who is poor/ disabled . I hope this never happens to anyone ever again.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Untrue report

I would like to respond to the rip off report; made from a client who was in a hurry to move from her location in Greenville, Ohio to Colorado due to a sickness in the family. She wanted to sell her car at auction first; then sell the remainder of her merchandise located in a storage unit at a later date. We were at full capacity and didn't have the room to sell her mechandise at the time we were to sell her car.
When the auction day came, she had changed the reserve price to an unrealistic price, so the car did not sell. She later sold the car for less that she would have received at auction. So, she did not pay our company for commission or advertising. We didn't bill her for these expense because of her family situation.
Later on, we picked up her mechandise from the storage unit. She had called begging for us to get her belongings out of the unit because, she could no longer afford the rent. We were assured that the mechandise in the storage unit was in good sellable condition. We could not see the merchandise due to it being packed in the unit. Upon picking up the items it was very clear that most of the items were damaged or soiled from pets and in poor condition.
The mattress she is referring to, smelled like dog and had a stain, this was pointed out to her parents or Friend the day of the auction. There was another mattress that had a large urine stain and black mold do to being stored in the storgae unit on the cement, it also had a offensive odor. There were 2 un-sellable Lay-Z-boy chairs that were ripped and torn to shreds with pet hair all over them. We do not sell the soiled mattresses - who would buy them? It would just make the other items look even worse. It in fact it would have been a very nice mattress with out the stains! The Air conditioners were old and in very poor condition. The top rail was missing on the Corner cupboard, and all scratched up. The rest of the items were dirty and in very poor condition.
Most of the items were left over garage sell items, with price tags left on them. We normally do not take such items, However, we wanted to try and help her out of her situation.
Yes, we did sell here items at auction. We did the best we could do with what we had to sell. We charged her a commision, labor, and advertising for what was sold as per contract. Because her merchandise was in such terrible condition; we did not profit from the sale. Infact, we lost money tring to help her out.
I had explained to her that I had subtracted 54.00 dollars from her bill, along with a dumpster fee of 27.00 we incurred, just so she would not owe our company money for selling her items.
We understand that when people are hurting; they take it out on whomever they can and it looks like we were the target.
We wish her well.
