I am a former employee of Rigid Building Systems, My job there was to phone & contact contractors of all types, & convince them to enter into the " PROCESS " that would lead then to finally purchase a " buildership " program ( resale rights ) for $4950.00 , this much is what a contractor would have to pay for just the right ( permission ) to even sell Rigid steele Buildings through this buildership. I was there for about 8 weeks, more enough time for me to see what was going on, & long enough to know that I did not want to be there any longer. The shady integrity standard that was applied there was the primary reason. When we made first contact with a contractor, either directly or more often via their voice mail, we would first tell them that we had development projects (jobs) in their area , (this was in our script!), and that we wanted to talk with them about this, leading them to believe we had work (jobs) for them. This was & is a lie, absolutely not true. Also we would strongly leave the impression that we would sell the steele buildings for them much of the time, leaving them to do the labor. This also was not true!  As the " PROCESS " goes along you will probably end up talking with a Mark Steinman or a Scott McRae. I recomend that you tell them No Thankyou! And hang up. Keep your $4950 for other things in your life that I am sure are important. There are many other fine steele building companies to choose from, check a few of them out & compare before making a decision. This statement is my personal opinions that I got from my experience working for Rigid Building Systems.   Say what they may, I believe that you are better off hanging on to your money.

Update - I am a GC on the second round of contacts

AUTHOR: Chris S - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 14, 2016

I am a GC in Tennessee. This company already tried to get me to sign once. I got to the Mark Stein converstation and he ended up hanging up on me because he basicly wanted $5k so he could give me prices on steel buildings. This time the employee was new. It was the exact same script as I have saw quoted in another post and left on my voice mail. Save your money. My research has shown if you want to erect steel buildings, you don't need to buy a dealership.

We also received a call to become a builder

Thank you for your comments regarding this proposed business deal.  Your input saved me thousands of dollars.  When a company calls you and then wants you to send them a fee to get the information from them it is a red flag.  I always google company names before I do any business with them and lucky for me someone had already had an experience with these scammers.

What was said sounded good.

Of course being experienced in life as I am, I ran them thru google for complaints.

Great rating on BBB from their consumer side.

Then I found Rip off Report and I must say thank you to everyone for your postings as you may have saved me $4950!

Im General Contractor currently hunting work leads and I dont mind paying for work just so long as I get what I was made to belive Im paying for.

Sincerely, Mike Imai

A common SCRIPT used by Steel Building Companies

AUTHOR: RipOffSteel - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, May 21, 2011

Wow, somebody finally stands up to these Steel Building Companies of liars. There really are some honest people out there Mark, kudos to you. Check out other steel building companieson ripoff.com There are many complaints.

The script is the same Mark and the majority are rip offs. My friend had dealings with a company that did the same thing to him also in Colorado. The only difference was the amount of money he had to pay for the so called Buildership or preferred Buildership or construction.

These programs are a real scam and are out there to prey on innocent people and businesses.Mark and any others should report these companies to the Federal Government and the Federal Trade Commission in Washington D.C.

The Federal Trade Commission exists to keep businesses on the up and up. They regulate ethical business practices and they enforce their policies. They can only do this if everyone reports these companies. Glad to see that Mark stood up for what he believes in and refused to work for this steel building scam.

I would agree with the original comment

I would have to say your rebuttal is way off the mark. I got involved with this company on the pretense I would receive special pricing, job leads, incredibly fast turn around on bids I needed. All I have received is excuse after excuse on hwy they cant bid projects, never receive leads, when I am able to get the to price a job out of the 4 companies I usually have price projects they are always the highest. Im not saying they don't make a decent building but there are better companies you don't have to pay for and you get better service with. I think half there profits come from selling dealerships

Disgruntled Employee

AUTHOR: employee - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 06, 2010

The information in these statements are false.  These statements are what you get when an employee that has misconception of their job and does not take the time to learn their position so that they can do their job correctly.  This position is business to business, giving contractors the opportunity to do business with Rigid.  If anyone interested in doing business with Rigid does their research they will see that Rigid Building Systems is a legitimate company that has been doing business for 20 years manufacturing steel buildings.  I suggest that before someone decides to have an "opinion" they know what their talking about first.
