Today I was contacted by a representative for Timeshare Real Solutions who offered to sell my timeshare.  He spoke a good game, offering to sell our timeshare at a price higher than we paid for it 20 years ago and guaranteeing a sale within 10 months or else they would buy it.  In the middle of his pitch I heard the words "financial obligation" and stopped him.  I asked if he meant that I would have to pay money up front.  the answer was yes.  At that point I informed him I wanted to do some research and have him call me back in a couple days.

As a real estate investor and paralegal I have learned the importance of "due diligence" or researching an entity before giving them any money or signing any legal documents.  Thank goodness I did!  Here is what I have discovered about this particular organization:

The owner, Robt. Sussman has operated this type of business under three names; Vacation Tree, then Timeshare Real Solutions, and currently Timeshare Realty Specialists.  Not illegal but certainly aroused my suspicion.  The company operates out of California yet is licensed in Florida.  Also interesting.  The address is a UPS store in calif.  Really?  They have an "F" rating with the BBB.  Finally I researched the internet and others who have had dealings with this company under all three names.  Their stories matched the pitch I had been given.  Except for a very few comments which I suspect are shills, not one person said they had sold their timeshare through this company.  Each had handed over anywhere from $450 - $3000 to "list" their timeshare and had gained nothing in return.

Based on the above information and my research I will not have anything to do with this firm.  I implore anyone considering selling their timeshare to carefully research before comitting to anything.  That is one reason why any dealing in real estate must be in writing by law, to avoid any misunderstandings or problems further down the road.

POSTED: Saturday, December 11, 2010

The accusations are completely false. The company is still in business, and has been since 2003. This person is an ex employee who filed this false report.

Our company has a customer service department to handle and resolve all complaints.

This complaint is a total lie. Any person who does business with our comoanies ALWAYS gets the product and services they pay for. And NO MONEY was ever given to Robert Sussman or Vacation Tiger,. NOT EVER.

The CEO.
