Bought an Explorer from them and they were going to have there people work on it. Months later still having problems took it to someone else that final found what the problem was and now Roberts Auto Sales doesn't want to pay for it.

Haven't even had the 2000 Explorer for 6 months. And trans is going out. paying 10,000 for this thing. They said they would work with us and let us do a trade in. When we go up there to do the trade they ask for another 3,000 down. They have lost there mind. I already have one lemon from them don't want another. And they won't let us out of this contract. They even had us sign a paper stating we would not get a lawyer involve with any misunderstanding. That we can come to an agreement on things (yeah right).

Your "Reputation?"

AUTHOR: Gabrek - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, March 03, 2017

In reference to Robert's rebuttal:

The fact that you claim to have ane excellent reputation in Kerrville is in and of itself a blatant lie. Everybody knows that you rip people off and pass off lemons as quality vehicles- the only way you've stayed in business is that the area is so economically depressed half the population under 25 has trashed credit ratings and you're the only company willing to still lean them over the barrel! I've had several friends and family members deal with you and they invariably have the same analysis: STAY AWAY FROM ROBERT'S AUTO SALES unless you're so desperate for work that lacking a car means literal starvation for your family.

Don't try and pretend to be someone you're not. You're shadier than an oak. At least have a tiny bit of dignity and respect for other peoples' intelligence to acknowledge it. Which you might actually be doing indirectly since you're taking the time to defend yourself on a website devoted to people reporting RIPOFFS.

Setting the story right

AUTHOR: Roberts Auto Sales - ()

POSTED: Friday, March 15, 2013

Honestly Roberts Auto Sales has a fantastic relationship in the hill country. We just opened our second location 12/18/2012 and this is because we treat people right. Reputation in a small town is everything and our customers loyalty afforded us the ability to expand. We would not be where we are today if there was any truth to what this person is saying. Her story alone should show everyone we were willing to forgive a $10,000 debt and start over new on a new car with no consequences to her credit. If that's not working with someone then I don't know what is. We are not perfect but we strive to be. We are fair and honest and a dealership you can trust when buying your next car.

Sincerely,

Stephen Roberts, President

Great Experience w/Roberts Auto Sales in Kerrville

AUTHOR: Beth King - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 17, 2009

I want to comment on this report. I recently purchased a vehicle at Roberts Auto Sales and would highly recommend it to anyone. I was treated respectfully regardless of my credit rating and they gave me a chance to purchase a great car when others would not. The salesman I dealt with, Mr. Nordstrom, was very nice and very helpful. I also met and dealt with the owner, Stephen Roberts and I am very impressed with them both. The vehicle has a small chip in the windshield and they are going to repair that flaw. I found them to have integrity and to deal with me honestly. They worked out a payment schedule for the down payment, so that I could have the car right away. The payments are reasonable and I was not pushed into a car payment I could not afford. I was able to purchase the car I wanted and did not have to settle for any car that the dealer wanted me to have due to my less that great credit. In the past I've had to settle on the car the dealer wanted to sell as opposed to the car I wanted to buy due to my credit rating. I realize I am a credit risk to them and am not at all offended by having a device on the vehicle that will disable it if I do not make the payment on time. I signed a contract stating I would pay for the vehicle and if I don't I expect there to be consequences. Please don't consider highly the negative comments about Roberts Auto Sales seen on this website. I had a great experience and expect that anyone who holds up to their end of the contract (makes their payments on time) would do so as well.

Proud Owner

AUTHOR: Stephen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 04, 2008

It's ashame that anyone can just post lies on this website without review. Having said that, the customer never once spoke to the owner about any issues and transmissions either go out or they don't. The Explorer was repoed because the customer failed to maintain full coverage insurance and was severely late on their payments. When the Explorer was repoed the transmission still worked and the inside was trashed out showing they didn't have any respect for their property. The repo is now on their credit and I hope future dealers do not finance this person. When you have to point the finger every time you make a mistake in life, sometimes its a good idea to look in the mirror rather than blame others. We have been known to give 2nd and 3rd chances to hundreds in just 3 short years and currently have many happy customers. Most people who don't bring their issues up to the owner are too embarrassed because they know they are already in the wrong when they are delinquent. Some people never learn how to build credit and end up not being able to finance a microwave oven.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Bad dealership

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 25, 2006

I too live in Kerrville. Robert auto just went up a few months ago if I am correct. Their cars are very highly over priced.

I am no stranger to auto ripoffs in this town. Family Auto sales sells decent vehicles, but they have the passlock system on their cars. Meaning, if you are late even one day, the cars ignition column is disabled. I got a saturn from them maybe 2 years ago. This was when I was still struggling, had bad credit, and needed a vehicle fast. I was stuck one day because I was 2 days late on a payment. I asked Julie (Finance Manager) if she could give me a code for 3 days. Since they wouldn't give me one, I decided to disable the ignition box myself. A pocket knife wedged into the control module, crack the circuit board, and the car starts every time without a code. I guess they spotted me as the second day I was driving the vehicle they repoed it.

Kar Korral, right down the street from Roberts auto, avoid at all costs! The guy, Chuck Burgin sells vehicles he got from auctions in SA (paid maybe 500 for each vehicle), and prices them at thousands of dollars. They don't inspect the vehicles, nor maintain them on the lot. Many can sit there for months without being started. The tires deflate after awhile, and many batteries die because of this. They sell the vehicles AS IS, and won't work with you if you buy a lemon. I bought a 300 ZX, and it broke down not even 24 hours after I bought it. I refused to pay for the vehicle any further. I was out 500 bucks for a down payment.

Kingpin cars just sucks. They have outrageous interest rates and the cars are over priced. I'd definitely recommend formerly Bryant Motors out towards Ingram on the left hand side, and Cecil Atkisson.

Cecil Atkisson works with many people, regardless of credit. They now have a special finance department for those who have baddies on their credit reports. And they report credit too. So if you make payments on time, it will rebuild credit.

Roberts, Family Auto Sales, Kar Korral, or any other mom and pop operation in this town won't benefit your credit, and the vehicles aren't certified used cars like you get at Cecil.

That's why I am not going to antagonize you because you bought from a sub prime scam outlet, because i've done it a few times myself. It sucks. I do wish you luck in your future auto searching endeavors.

Here's another thing Renee, if you have the money available, here's what I would do. Go to Cecil and ask for the easy credit department. Fill out an app and if your approved, can afford the down payment (remember, cecil atkisson has a very high customer satisfaction rating), and are willing to start over again, then take the plunge!

Drop that POS Explorer at Roberts auto overnight, with a note explaining your surrendering the auto, leave the key by the door in an envelope (or drop it inside the door flap), and move on with your life. They may try to intimidate you into paying them money you don't owe. They will try to say you owe a few thousand. Tell them to bug off. They might threaten to sue you or whatever.

If you are interested in learning more about Texas state law and what they can or can't do, email me at ###tommy_1812@yahoo.com###. There's a lot I can tell you about these subprime dealers, and what they can or can't do.
