I responded to a typical solicitation to visit resort property and take a tour of the land and hear their sales pitch. Pretty much the only reason anybody does this is for the free gift and they were offering an iPad2. I looked at all the fine print for an out on their part, and there was none that I could see. I made my reservation, confirmed by phone and again asked if there was any catch to receiving the gift, and they said no, I would absolutely receive the iPad2.
They called me today, 2 days prior to my visit, and said that Apple was "forbidding" them from giving away the iPads and they would have to substitute some other gifts. They read them off to me, and they were your typical trash that was worth nothing to me, so I cancelled the visit.
It is hard to believe that all of a sudden today they had to stop giving out the iPads. This sounds like a typical bait and switch. Potential future visitors should beware.

I was also offered the iPad to tour Rock Creek Resort. I got a call from Rock Creek a week or so prior to my appointment saying Apple did not allow them to give away iPads. They gave me a few other offers which were not trash offers. One was a set of golf clubs that far exceeded the value of an iPad. I ended up choosing an AMEX gift card for more than the value of the iPad. I was not in financial position to purchase property but I did love the place and got a great gift just for looking. It sounds like previous post was just trying to raise a stink for nothing.
