Rock Tops Marble And Granite I ripped off my old countertops, while Rock Tops ripped off my new ones. Macomb Michigan

I purchased granite countertops at Rock Tops Marble and Granite's new Lenexa, KS location Nov. 14, 2008. They came and measured Dec. 1 and set up an install date of Jan. 6. Payment in full was made per Rock Tops stipulation that they could not cut the slab until full payment was received.

Jan. 4 we removed all of our existing countertops. I called Rock Tops the afternoon of Jan. 5 to make sure we were still on for the install and the store where we had made our purchase had disconnected their number. After many attempts to reach the company through the 800 number and other store locations, I became concerned that they were no longer in business. Apparently, the owners closed the doors of all of their locations and are nowhere to be found.

How could a company that had just opened 4 new locations (the Lenexa, KS store opened the end of Oct. 2008) and was advertising the opening of showrooms in 10 additional cities "soon" just up and close their doors? I understand that the economy right now is not boding well for many businesses, but the owners of Rock Tops had to know they were not financially secure before the 4 new locations were even put into operation. They have left me not only out the money, but also in a position where I cannot even use my kitchen until I make arrangements with another company to do the job.

A recorded message sent to all customers involved would have been the least they could have done. I would still be out the money, but at least I would have a kitchen I could use!!
