I recently had a couple of run ins with Ron Tonkin on two different locations.

When going into both I was up front and honest about my situation. I let them know that I was a single mom of a 2 year old and that I had just recently totaled my car and was in need of something safe an reliable for me and my son. I have a good job just little to no credit and what I did have was only a couple things that were bad and one had been paid off almost 2 years ago. I could more than afford a car payment but that didn't matter.

The first guy I talked to, I don't remember his name, was at Ron Tonkin Kia and he was a complete idiot. As soon as he walked up I explained my situation to him including everything he would and wouldn't find on my credit report and that I was without a down payment or cosigner. He said that shouldn't be a problem we can help you. Little did I know that he had only been there 3 days and didn't know a d**n thing he was talking about. Due to the fact that I am a girl and felt I would be taken advantage of I brought my dad with me, because he's a big guy who's got that kinda don't f*ck with me look and he knows a lot about different cars. Anyways so this guy takes me on a test drive and has my drive literally around the block and I was not happy with that so I just kept driving. I really liked the car they had me drive and then of course came the questions about the car which they guy knew nothing about. Once we got back to the dealership we went in to talk financing and was told, surprise surprise, they couldn't get me into that car.

Oh yea one more thing, every other dealership I went to they filled out the paperwork for me and I just answered their questions, anyways he just said here fill this out and sat and talked with my dad and every time I had a question he acted like I was interrupting him. Anwayz, so they told me that they couldn't put me in that car but I could get into a dodge neon 2000 with a little of 50,000 miles on it that day. I know their history and know they have problems but I figured why not I'll drive it. My dad didn't go with me but when I got back he told me that he heard the CV axle going out on the car. Apparently the car hadn't even gone through service and it was just traded in that day. Then I asked if they had anything else and they told me no. My dad then started arguing with them because they are Ron Tonkin they have 16 dealerships and the finance guy who was a smug a*s told him they were separate from all the other dealerships and couldn't go to another lot, whereas when we got there our sales guy told us we could go look on other lots. So we left and I was very angry at this point so I just stopped looking for cars for a few days.

Oh yea also, I called Hillsboro Hyundai who was absolutely awesome and was working so hard to try to get me financed. I would recommend them to anyone who wants honest good service. Oscar the finance guy couldn't have been sweeter and was all about helping me build my credit and being a good person. So yea I called him to tell him what was going on at Kia and he told me to leave that they would give me a bad deal and even agreed that the car they were trying to put me in was not a safe car and had notorious electrical problems. He was so nice he even went as far as to tell me who not to get financing through and that he would keep working on getting me financed. When it comes time for me to be able to get a newer car and I've built credit this is where I will go.

So then I decided to go to credityes.com and have the dealerships start calling me and I got a call from Ron Tonkin Honda and was very hesitant to even go through them but after I talked to the lady and told her what happened and everything she was very apologetic and said she would have it looked into.

I went in later that evening and met with a really nice guy named Brian who was nothing like a regular sales person, he was relaxed and personable. When I told him I wanted to talk financing before ever even test driving a car he said "I like you, you're smart" well they ran my credit and said they couldn't do anything for me that night but to come back tomorrow and talk with Howard the finance specialist. But before I left they offered me a Saturn that had over 110,000 miles on it and it was like a '96. I said no I'm not in a hurry I'll be back tomorrow.

So I came back in, but this time my dad couldn't come with me because he was sick so it was just me and my friend who was also a girl. I walk in said I have an appointment with Howard and the lady said ummm hang on and then the finance guy I had talked with the day before said go have a seat we'll be right with you. 15-20 min later this guy named Joe comes up to me and said I think we found something for you, so I'm like ok and we walk outside and he starts wondering around the lot looking for a car that he can't find and I said well what kind of car is it maybe I can help you and he's all well its a Saturn and I said no I already looked at that car and I told them yesterday that I didn't want it. He said that they didn't have anything else for me and I said bull you have 15 other dealerships and he said well they had a hard time getting me financed. Anways I got him to come inside and look at some cars with me all the while my mood getting worse and worse. Finally I was so frustrated I said "I'm gonna go smoke and think about this for a minute" and the guy looked at me like I was crazy and I said "don't worry about it I'm not leaving I'll be back and regardless because I have such horrible credit you'll get a sale either way so whatever" and I walked outside and called my best friend to beg her to cosign for me but she couldn't. I called my dad whom I called throughout the entire ordeal talking to him about different cars. Then I went back in and said ok lets go look at this car over at Mazda. We went over there but it had already been sold but they offered me a '99 Toyota corolla with only 102,000 miles on it which is nothing for a Toyota so I was like I'll take that. We go back to the dealership and to start talking financing and they come back and say I'm sorry we own that for too much we want to sell it to sell it for more than you're able to finance it for. Then they went back to talking about the Saturn and I told them that it smelled like mold and was making noises when we drove it over to the other lot. They just said well we can get the mold smell out and I'm just like are you serious its not the smell its the fact that there's probably a leak somewhere in the car and therefore mold growing somewhere. They are such f***ing idiots I swear to god. A spray won't fix it, just the smell. Anyways, at this point I told the guy that I was leaving that they didn't have anything I wanted and that I would go look elsewhere. He went and talked to his "people" and took me out to look at a crown victoria that was old and ugly and wouldn't even test drive it. Maybe, I should have but oh well, I had a bad feeling about all of it at this point that I was just waiting to be gone from this place. I wouldn't even consider it. What part of a safe reliable car don't these people get?

Then they showed me this Nissan Sentra that only had 94,000 miles on it and was a '95. the interior was in poor condition and there were nobs missing off the stereo. It hadn't even been through service inspection yet. So at first I told the guy why don't you just put it through service and call me when you know something about it and he said we won't do that for you, we don't even care if you buy a car today Earlier he also said the only reason they were even going to finance me was because they hadn't sold a car today. I didn't care that wasn't my problem. Anyways he kept telling me that they didn't care more times than I remember and he was just an a*s to me. So I was talking to my dad while I was looking at the Sentra and he told me just to walk so that's what I did. I went inside cause Joe wanted me to talk to his manager and tell him my decision and that guy was like maybe we'll get more cars in this weekend and we'll call you and let you know all I could think was yea right and I left.

One more thing, I said well maybe I'll save up some money, like $1000 and come back with a down payment and he said you need like $5000 for any kind of real down payment, so that's not going to make much of a difference and then I said well maybe I'll save it up and just go buy a car outright and he's all well you'll never build credit that way and I just said there's more than one way to build credit

I have never been treated so horribly by anyone and he was so d**n condescending. At this point I don't know what I'll for a car but I know that Joe is an a*s and so is the finance guy over at Kia.

I would suggest never going to Tonkin if you are in a situation like me because they will just drag you through the mud and make you feel completely hopeless and worthless. I hope they read this so they see how they made me feel.
