Ross Dress For Less Can you help me with this? I went into the store to return items I bought a week before from the store. They cost $25. They offered me $4. They said without a receipt we have to give you the lowest amount. So I showed them the transaction on my phone. The rep called the manager. The manager tried walking her through the transaction to find it. The rep couldn't figure it out. Marie admitted this to me. So they said they only could give me $4. I bought these from the store a week ago. Still brand new with transaction from bank. I was so annoyed I went and got $23 worth of stuff. I left my items and said just exchange them out. You have the transaction number. Now I'm getting charged with stealing. I would never steal from anyone. If they do this to me then they do this to thousands of people. It isn't right. I was wrong walking out of the store. I wasn't taking $4 for items I bought a week before. Now I have to go to court on 5/15. They will charge me. I don't break laws. Casa Grande Az

That's a Crime

AUTHOR: coast - (United States)

The purchase receipt is required as per the store's return or exchange policy. Customers are not permitted to dictate changes to a store's policy.

You committed theft. That's a crime.

Robbery

AUTHOR: Brian - (United States)

You don't consider Ross committing robbery when you just bought the items and have the transaction on your phone? Nobody would be ok with $4 for $25.

Ok

So you would be ok with this? Every other store will give you store credit or look up transaction. She was trying to look it up. She didn't know how. All I wanted to do was exchange the items. I'm glad people are ok with businesses doing this to people. They're stealing millions every month from people doing this. Not one store had this $20 item for sale less then what I bought it for. I've seen it thousands of times at stores.

I just bought them from the store a week earlier. It's 2023 they can easily look them up on a pos system. Every other store would. Most keep your information. If they do this to me they do it to thousands every week. I left the items and they had the transaction number. Manager was gone and girl couldn't figure out how to look them up. They were brand new I bought the weekend before. Would you take $4? What guys save receipts?

Technically, that's robbery

AUTHOR: Flint - (Afghanistan)

What you did could be construed as robbery, not just theft. So be glad that is all you are being charged with. And there is absolutely no right to return items, especially without a receipt. Stores can and do deny those. Next time, keep the receipt. A $25 charge on your bank statement doesn't prove anything, by the way. It could have been a totally different item or set of items. There is no way to tell that you actually purchased this specific item unless you present the cash register receipt
