Scam! The salesman spent less than 2 minutes with me and said my doors would have to sanded to bare wood because of lead paint. The house has been paint 7 times in 37 years. No problems with other contractors. I don't know why he even said that without checking the paint!

I said the doors needed to be prepared, not sanded to wood.

Your salesman said they would have to be sanded to wood because of lead paint and he never saw the doors.

How did he know the lead paint had not been sanded off already. The guy never even entered the house.

He was rude and left when he said I didn't want to listen to him.

I suggest anyone thinking about using this company "SCCCI" doing a web search, and you will find many complaints.

SCCCI Response

AUTHOR: SCCCI - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 29, 2011

Recently our company sat down in our company staff meeting to discuss this review posted on Ripoff Report about our company. Here are responses authored from a few of our employees and staff:

Dave, it is with much regret that you were dissatisfied with our company. We are a company who strives to provide each potential customer
with the knowledge and power to make an informed decision, whether they choose our company or not. We can understand your frustration and concern and would like to be given the opportunity to come back out to your home and provide you with the information as to why no home should have to be painted approximately every 5 years. We would like to provide you with the tools and knowledge so when you decide on a contractor, you do so with adequate information.

-Celina A.

As a licensed company over 25 years in business we have become experts at painting. With the introduction of the Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a government agency, every contractor performing renovations that disturbs the existing paint on a home that was built before 1978 is required to take certain precautions to ensure the safety of our customers, the environment and our crews. Having been painted 7 times in the last 37 years, Daves doors would be subject to stripping to ensure not only conformity to the law but to ensure proper adhesion of our paint products which last MUCH longer than the 5 year average described. SCCCI is an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm and employs certified lead containment professionals. More information about SCCCI and the EPA RRP Rule can be found at www.sccci.net and www.epa.gov/lead respectively.

As a contractor of 26 years in business in Southern California without a change in name or license number we pride ourselves in being the most thorough in answering all questions or concerns regarding the
specified items we are there to consult on. Unfortunately when someone is
unfamiliar with the correct process of preparation, it becomes foreign to them when they dont recognize what they have been told over and over by other contractors through years of repainting. We can certainly understand the apprehension to honest contractors because it is a rarity in our industry.

However, we are always open to anyone confirming our findings with other
sources. We welcome any inquiry about our presently working projects and/or past work.

-Milton C.

SCCCI is certified through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to handle toxic lead in surfaces to be painted. SCCCI is in business for 25+ years, through all the turbulent times, yet still remains viable and still satisfying its customers. SCCCI has successfully completed 17,000+ projects under the same license number and is family owned and operated
with the same owner and many of the same employees since. To read comments from our customers go to www.sccci.net/testimonials.html.
Feel free to contact us for a free no obligation estimate and judge our
approach for yourself. We all at SCCCI thank you for doing your due diligence in selecting your home improvement contractor.

-Larry L.

I have been an employee at SCCCI for 10+ years. One of my duties is scheduling of appointments. In reading the complaint of Mr. Dave
(our records show him as Patrick B.) I was speechless. In all of our
conversations (3 minimum) Dave (Patrick) complained of other contractors not doing the work the way he wanted. I asked, What would you like us to do? he responded, Well you gotta strip the doors to make the paint last. I replied How do you know that? His response was, That is exactly what the past contractors did not do. So, I was surprised that in two minutes, doing what he asked, he came to this type of conclusion Im speechless.
