Safeway Store# 984 No to breast cancer awareness, Yes to "White Power"! Clearlake, California

A couple of months ago, I ordered a cake from Safeway. On it, I wanted written, "I 'heart' boobies" for breast cancer awareness. I was told it was offensive, and they refused to make the cake. I spoke with the manager, and got nowhere with my breast cancer arguement.
A couple of days ago, I was in Safeway and a customer ordered a cake. On it she wanted a swastika with the words "White Power". The cake was made without incident and no one told her that it was offensive.
Something is wrong here!

B**bies=offensive?

I am sorry that you are offended by the word boobies. It is what my niece wanted on the cake since she has several breast cancer survivors in the family. The reason she chose it is that she has the pink bracelet, t-shirt, etc... that have "I 'heart' boobies" on them for breast cancer awareness. I don't think the "white power" cake would have bothered be as much, had they made both cakes.... I am offended by it, but it's one of the freedoms that make America, right? It just really bothered me that the one was considered offensive, and the other not.

I, too, have a hard time believing the part about the swastika. So let's go back to your original problem, which was that they wouldn't make a cake with "boobies" on it. Quite frankly, I find it offensive too, and I'm a woman. Using the word "boobies" sexualizes and trivializes a devastating illness affecting millions of women and their families.
Why didn't you just have them write something more appropriate?

I know Safeway does a lot of volunteer work to support organization fot breast cancer and several other charitable organizations.... This is one of the reasons I was so outraged! I am one of the local volunteers that shows up to help at all of these types of events in our community. I even have my own "Safeway Volunteer" t-shirt. It was like a slap in the face when they wouldn't make our cake, but then to make the other one was just plain wrong! If you don't believe me, call the store number, press 2 for the bakery, and ask.... They have been getting call after call since I live in a very small town, word got around fast, and people are outraged by this! As for me being in the store at the right time... All I can say is, I am in the store just about every day, and yeah, I just happened to be there at the right time. So, if you choose not to believe me, fine... But please do not call me a liar! You do not even know me....

But they did make it.... That's the point. At the same time our breast cancer awareness cake was "too offensive"...

Saafeway is such a sponsor of breast awareness, I know you're lying.
"A couple of days ago, I was in Safeway and a customer ordered a cake. On it she wanted a swastika with the words "White Power". The cake was made without incident and no one told her that it was offensive."
MORE B.S., you just "happened" to be there when the cake was ordered and "know" they made it....how convenient for you...it fits your story well.
Go away, LIAR!

Enough said - ever hear of the story of the child named Adolph Hitler?? No store would decorate his cake so I don't think they would decorate a cake with White Power one it.
