I contacted Western school of health and business in February 2004 to obtain information about the Ultrasound program they offer. On the phone call they were very insistant that I come to the Pittsburgh location so they can better assist me. I went to the Pittsburgh location to discuss the enrollment and testing process. Everyone was super friendly and eager to help but that all ended by my second trip to their office. on the sencond visit I met with a gentleman that was absolutely insisting that the Anesthesia program would be the best option for me. I was shocked because I wasnt even aware that they offered that program and I had not seen it on the course selection sheet I filled out. I had my heart set on becoming an ultrasoound technician. However they pushed me into taking the anesthesia program and told me that the ultrsound program is offered at the Monroeville campus and it was already filled! He sat there for 25min talking me out of my original program chioce. I finally agreed to take the anesthesia program.

Once the program started I immediately felt like I made a mistake! The instructors were nothing more than recently graduated students form Western school with minimal teaching experience. I recieved notification from AES that payments were made to Western school and several weeks passed before they would release our reimbursement checks. My concerns hightened when we went for clinical internship at the local hospitals. I began to find out that the people at the hospitals working as anesthesia techs., and training me, never went to any school and did not have a degree. Most of them were hired for housekeeping and worked their way up to make $10.00 an hour as an anesthesia tech. I was also informed that their was no degree nessecary to work as an anesthesia tech. in the hospitals. So I realized I was going to school for nothing when is was much too late and I had already spent too much money, and too much time on earning this degree. I graduated 2006 and I'm back to working as a CNA, as I did before my degree, making $10 an hour. The point of the story is that Western school of health and business put me $24,000.00 in debt for nothing. They did manage to remodel and rebuild nice new offices with my tuition! Furthermore I dont believe the education I received from the instructors was worth $24.00! I know a few other people that had the same experience and we are all trying to go back to college (a real college) for nursing degrees while we are already in serious debt!
