On September 11, 2003 (Wednesday) I had Schmidt's A/C out to repair my home's central air conditioning unit, there was no air blowing. They said for $1,400 they will install a new air handler (the fan unit that circulates the cold air). They said it is guaranteed for one year. Being 105 degrees outside we agreed. Saturday night September 14th, 2003 (3 days later) it was blowing hot air.

Sunday 9-15-03, with Scmidt's guarantee and knowing they are a 24 hour 7 day a week compay, we called their office. We called eight time from 9 am to 2 pm without getting an answer. Being 105 degrees outside we were forced to call another repair company out to fix the problem.

When the other repair company came out, they explained that part of the proccess of replacing an air handler is removing freon and replacing it when it is finished. What they found was our unit was short 3 lbs of freon so they put some in (cost $123.00).
The unit worked fine since that time.

We contacted Schmidt's looking for reimbursement for work they should have done for free. We explained that we attempted to call them Sunday with no answer. They said there was some type of "emergency" that day and no one was available. They also said in short that we might as well jump in a lake, that no reimbursment will be made. KNOWING WHAT I KNOW NOW, I WOULD NEVER USE SCHMIDT'S NOR WOULD I HAVE MY WORST ENEMY USE THEM.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

cleared of any wrongdoing

AUTHOR: Randy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 20, 2003

This customer requested a refund of money he spent with another company. We requested a receipt. Customer reluctingly finially provided one, however it was dated before we had even installed his new air handler. Hmmm.

In addition, there was no record of any phone calls from this customer on Sunday the 15th. of September nor were there any messages left.
It appears that this customer was attempting to collect for a bill that he had created with another company previous to our service.
This situation was discussed with The Registrar of Contractors and the Better Business Bureau and our company was cleared of any wrongdoing.

This customer then proceded to make in excess of 100 hang up phone calls to our Company over several days until he was caught.
