First Time Buyer Frustration PLEASE HELP!!!

AUTHOR: Christiana - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 11, 2004

I WAS A FIRST TIME BUYER AND I BOUGHT A CAR THAT WAS OVER PRICED. A 1997 CHEVY MALIBU IN WHICH MY APR WAS 22.9% AND THE SELL ON THE CAR WAS 18,000 EST. MY MONTHLY PAYMENTS WERE AND STILL ARE 401.12. I CAN NO LONGER AFFORD THAT PAYMENT. I TRIED TO SEE IF THEY COULD REFINANCE OR EVEN TAKE THE CAR BACK BUT THEY REFUSED TO WORK WITH ME. WORD FOR WORD THE REP SAID THEY JUST WANTED THE MONEY. NOW MY CREDIT IS ALL MESSED UP AND WHEN I TREID TO TRADE THE CAR IN THE CAR LOAN SALESMEN REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT THE CAR BECAUSE THE BY OUT IS MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!
PLEASE HELP!!!

More people need to file complaints

AUTHOR: T - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2004

I feel for you because I am also going through the same thing. You can read my report a couple down from you. What I would suggest is to contact the attorney generals office in your area Not Better Business Bureau because they do nothing. Go online to do a search. I have been getting screwed since I got my car and like you I owe thousands more than what my car is worth. If SeaWest took over your car loan and added money to your loan it was illegal and luck you caught it.

You need to file a complaint and the attorney generals office gets right on top of it. I was being billed incorrectly and I filed a complaint and Seawest quickly reviewed my account and took the money off. But there is still issues. For us who can not afford a lawyer when we truly have a case it is hard. More people need to file complaints with the Attorney generals office and maybe they will sue them and get our car loans etc. gone. It's ridiculous. It is soo much stress.

How to get back at Seawest

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 17, 2003

I had an issue with Seawest where they bought off my loan fro Grayson Financial without my knowledge. I only found out becasue they sent me a statement for the balance owed and next payment due, which contained the same price for the car as the first day I bought the car.I waited until the next two months before contacting them giving them the benefit of the doubt because it could have been a computer error. When I contacted the company, they were very rude and the female on the phone told me that I was paying only interest and that was the reason the statement remained the same from March of 03 when I got the car to September of 03. When I asked for the payoff amount, they gave me an amount higher than what was on the statement.I contacted the BBB of California(they hae a website) and informed them of what was going on.When the bureau contacted them, the next statement had the corrected balance and the interest rate has been lowered. So inform the BBB of the issue you are having and let them investigate the issue. They wiil help.
