See Optical is a rip-off.  Their stores are located in high-end, upscale shopping centers among reputable businesses, and I did not question their customer service policies.  I paid $600 for a pair of eyeglasses --pricey for me, but I assumed I was getting a premium product that the company would surely stand behind.  I was wrong.  

Their eyeglass frames are not made with the little springs and screws in the temple piece, so that once they break off, they cannot be repaired.

My glasses were a little more than a year old when they slipped off a table, and the earpiece broke off.  When I returned to See, I was amazed to be told, "See doesn't do repairs."  They offered to extend my one-year "warranty" which consists of permitting me to buy another pair at 50% off. 

Then I took the glasses to a different optical store where the assistant immediately recognized that I needed to ask the store to order a new temple for me (and she would be happy to fix them).  See refused to order a new temple. 

I found MANY reviews of See online corrorborating this same occurrence.

Most of the persons who posted their complaints were angry and unhappy but did not indicate that they went further.  I took my case to Small Claims Court where I accepted the offer of a refund of $435  with the understanding that I would never enter a See store again!  I was not refunded the $166 that my insurance paid, nor the $55 court filing fee.

If you like to shop in hip places (some See stores have even had a disc jockey) pay a premium price, and don't care about customer service because it's okay with you that your glasses last only a year or so, go to See Optical.
