Tommie Dill of Serra Toyota in Birmingham, AL, asked for a $1000 deposit to order a car we had been negotiating on. I gave the deposit and after several weeks, Tommie called and said the car was there. When I got to the dealership, the car was not what was supposed to have been ordered(wrong options). When I asked for my deposit back, Mr. Dill said the deposit was non-refundable.

1st: There is a government agency that oversees the operation of Car dealers in your area. Find out who and file a complaint

2nd: Small claims court, include all costs you incured in the suit and the nice cleark at the courthouse will help you. At the very least the dealer will have to explain to the judge why he doesn't owe you the money, always good fun, and it will cost him more too fight than pay.

3rd: Call Toyota corporate and file a complaint. Be polite and do not take no for an answer. Request a file # so you can trace your complaint later.

The BBB has no power but filing a complaint with them gets you on a local venue for local people to see.

Good Luck
