THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT AGAINST ECOWATER!!!!

ECOWATER IS A GREAT BRAND......

THIS IS ONLY A COMPLAINT ABOUT AN ECOWATER DEALER!!!!

Terry, a salesperson for ServiSoft (an Ecowater dealer), told my wife and I that we could rent-to-own a water softener. The price was $700 plus tax. We had the option to buy within 6 months. After that, the option to buy was over. However, the installation charge and 100% of every monthly payment would be applied to the purchase price. Great deal, huh? Not exactly. The installation technician came to the house and gave my wife a contract to sign after he installed the unit. The contract only gave us 4 months to purchase the unit. So, my wife calls the office. They tell my wife not to sign the contract, and that they will get a correct one in the mail. A few weeks go by. We get the second contract. Well, it DID say we had 6 months to purchase the unit. However, it does not show the purchase price, nor does it show how much of the installation or monthly payments are applied to the purchase price. So, we refused to sign that one, too. Well, then we get another contract in the mail. Ths one is correct EXCEPT for the purchase price. Now, the unit is $895 instead of the $700 we were told!!! That's almost $200 MORE! So, my wife calls and talks with Terry, the sales rep. He says that he told us it was $895, but that when we were credited the installation charge and monthly payments that it would be $700. Um, no???? That's not what he said in our kitchen. So, my wife calls and talks with Kim, the receptionist. She says that the only time the units are sold for $700 is when the customer physically comes to their office and picks up the unit and installs it themselves. Well, apparently, Terry was confused the day he was in my kitchen????? Anyhow, my wife calls and speaks with the owner of ServiSoft, Stan. She starts explaining the scenario. The minute she mentions the possibility of Terry's unethical (or possibly unclear) sales practices, Stan gets very upset, and he tells my wife that she crossed the line, and that he does not want to do business with us, that he will come and get the unit, and that he's sold the units for $895 for the past two years. Um, apparently not if people can walk into the office and purchase them for $700, according to Kim???? So, my wife stated to Stan (in the midst of this conversation) that she called to pay what we owed because we were going to do the right thing even though their company wasn't, but since Stan wanted to come pick up the unit...to come pick it up. Needless to say, they love their customers......they were at our house within 30 minutes to pick up the unit. My wife told Stan that since we did not sign a contract (since it was never RIGHT), that we were not going to pay their company. Stan, the owner, said, "Oh, you WILL pay." Anyhow, my wife tells Stan that she is going to notify Ecowater Corporate, which is Ecowater Worldwide, the BBB, ripoffreport.com, and a few other places of their practices. Stan says for my wife to go ahead and threaten him with that. So, she calls Ecowater. Come to find out, the unit ServiSoft sold us wasn't even an Ecowater unit!!!!! So, my wife couldn't even file a complaint. When she calls Stan to find out who the manufacturer of our unit was, Stan is says it's Autotrol, and doesn't seem to care that he sold us an off-brand unit.....although, he works under the Ecowater name. So, my wife calls Ecowater Canada and talks with the President of Ecowater Canada, Mr. Paul Godin, who is a very down-to-earth and helpful man. Mr. Godin says that he will get the complaint to someone in Ecowater's St. Paul, MN location. So, if you're looking for a water softener, by all means, buy Ecowater.....just do not buy it fom a shady dealer like ServiSoft.
