Cory Whisten and his company Shadow Repo repossessed my car for my finance company. I was traveling and behind on payments and I understand why the decision was made to repossess the car - no problem there. The problem that I do have is that relatives and friends saw the vehicle being driven for several days around Freehold, NJ by Cory Whisten. The man repossessed my car but has no right to use it for himself. I cancelled my insurance and the car was still on the road with my plates. I's called usury and it is a component of theft and fraud. If your car is repossessed by Shadow Repo make sure you know where it is and get your plates off of it fast.

MORE THAN A CHANCE

AUTHOR: Mark4 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 30, 2011

After having my vehicle repossessed by Cory Whisten aka Shadow Recovery, I received reports from my family that they saw my vehicle being driven by someone in Freehold, NJ.  They took down the plate number and followed it to a residential address in Freehold.  I have a photo (from a cell phone camera) of my vehicle, with it's license plate still on it, in front of what turns out to be Cory Whisten's home address along with several other cars.  It was seen there and then not there and then there again the next six days.  I am not a former employee, I'm not an angry dealership customer, I am a consumer who feels defrauded.  I don't feel that this action should go unreported and I feel that other consumers should be aware.  Mr. Whisten, I'm sorry if you are having issues with former employees, but based on the description I have of the man driving my vehicle, it was you.  And just to clarify, my extensive travels had caused me to overlook making two payments on my car loan.  I had returned from traveling two nights prior to you taking my car.  I gave you the keys myself trusting that this type of situation would not occur.  The fact that it did, in part, is my motivation for reporting you and providing rebuttal for your weak response.

I am responding to Mark from SUMIT NJ as you spell it. Mark from Summit as its correctly spelled is a former employee. All who know me and my business would know that we do not store any vehicles at all. Especially at the time of this complaint. We were at the period of time delivering all reposessed vehicles directly to the finance companies after repossesion. The repo industry is a difficult business to begin with and the insurance regs are extremely rigid. My employees and myself at no point would ever drive a vehicle that was repossesed for personal use. As Mark has posted he is from Summit and I can tell you after going through my files with a fine tooth comb. Shadow Recovery has never repossesd a vehicle from Summit NJ. We were a small company that focused on a small territory. I am here trying to clear my good name. I understand that people are having a tough time in this economy. But that is no reason to trash someone because you are not taking care of your own business. Besides Mark if you were away traveling and were not around at time of reposession how would I be driving your vehicle. That would mean since you were away that I would not have keys. It is a nice attempt to trash someone but completely false.

Cory Whisten
