Shayna responded to a Craigslist posting about designing some elements for my website. She took a $500 deposit, and communicated by email for a week or two (without showing any work). Then all communication stopped. Emails and phone calls haven't been returned, and obviously the deposit wasn't repaid.

Luckily I live in LA so I can at least try small claims court. But anyone considering doing work with this firm should refuse to pay the deposit, and only pay for work that has been delivered.

Caveat Emptor!

Client agreed to a contract with a non-refundable deposit

This client decided to cancel his project after work had already been completed. Our mutually signed contract stated that his deposit was non-refundable and decided to post this notice here because he was unhappy with that policy. Attached is the section of his contract stating the refund policy.
