I seriously would not recommend signing up for Shelly Rice’s Wedding Mixers hosted by Wedding Referral Club & 4040 Events. Despite her testimonials being all rosey positive, Shelly Rice does not portray the qualities or traits written in those testimonials. She does not always exude professionalism and she definitely does not understand the concept of time management; which is a very important trait to have when one is in the wedding event business and claims to have 30 years worth of experience.

It was requested by an admin on Facebook that Shelly’s event be edited with a link so that people can express interest and follow the event on May 20 or so. Needless to say, a link has NEVER gone up and I requested in June (for the second time) for the link and VIP passes as I paid $45 to participate upon receival of her invoice from 4040 Events. She stated that she would do it that weekend...the weekend came and passed with absolutely no follow through of any kind whatsoever, including nothing at all on Facebook.

Her “assistant” even stopped replying to people on the thread -which seems rather fishy and unprofessional to me. It is for these reasons (no follow through TWICE and no responses to emails) that I had my husband request that his $45 be refunded. Again Shelly chose not to reply to my husband’s email causing me to have to email her again stating that I’d like a refund be sent out upon receival of my email.

THIRD Time NO Follow Through - Shelly stated in her email that she will get it out later that week (again not at all professional considering my request for refund was not just a request, but by this point a demand because we’re being ignored and basically being lied to and scammed). We haven’t received our refund; another email was sent and again, no reply whatsoever from Shelly as to whether it was even sent out but judging from her behavior in this entire situation, I can venture a pretty good guess and say it’s not coming.

I’m a pretty easy person to get along with, and I’ve given Shelly one too many chances to back up her words. She did not deliver as she stated she would in her emails (which I’d be happy to share with anyone who wants to see them because I don’t lie like Shelly), and I felt it was necessary to let people know what’s going on so they don’t get scammed like we did.

Please do your research before signing up for any of Shelly’s events. While the event may be valid, Shelly’s personality/traits/behaviorisms are not, especially if we’re talking professionalism, great master planning, etc. (It must be nice stealing from people when you take in 90-99K a year).

I was scammed by Shelly Rice & her assistant Sunny Gainey

AUTHOR: Rachael - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, September 19, 2019

I was scammed as well. I paid for 6 events totaling to $315 scheduled to take place in different cities within Florida during October & November 2019. September 4th I began reaching back out to her assistant Sunny Gainey about the Facebook links for the events to share. They replied back via an email that they were in Texas with events and would get back to me later.

I patiently waited a week and afterwards I started sending messages to Sunny Gainey on Facebook which she ignored and muted our conversation so she wouldn’t see them. I called all 6 hotels for where the events were to take place and nothing was scheduled. Now keep in mind I paid for these events back in June & July and it’s now September and they are supposedly to take place in October and November.

I posted the event fliers in various vendor groups on Facebook asking if others had attended her events and received comments of other ladies from Texas and Arizona that also paid for events. Those events never took place and they hadn’t received a refund. I have since notified my bank to dispute charges for the events that I paid for. She has had several different business names, email accounts and phone numbers that she uses to continuously scam vendors.

There were 2 websites they used to scam that I paid for 5 events through at $45 each 'Wedding Mixers’ and $90 through 'Wedding Referral Club’ I clicked back on the link 'Wedding Mixers’ that Sunny her assistant sent me and it is no longer working. Someone needs to put a stop to this!
