My wife and I visited The Skyline Niagara hotel May 25 for a night. We had no complaints about this hotel. It was generally clean. There was only one small problem with the air conditioner which was resolved quickly. As part of their package they offer a $40 gift card at either the Fallsview Rainbow Room restaurant in the CrownePlaza or the Fallsview restaurant in the Sheraton. We chose the Fallsview restaurant because its a buffet and the Rainbow Room restaurant is a la carte with entrees about $35 each, no salads, no deserts. So we chose the buffet. Boy was that a mistake.

The stipulation with the gift card when used at the buffet is that you must purchase two adult buffets @ $35 plus one child buffet @$17.50 in order to use the gift card. We explained to them we have no children and this is discrimination! We plead with them to make an exception to no avail. We had to purchase the buffet for a child we did not have.

When you go into the Sheraton, the hotel looks really nice, well kept. When you go into the Fallsview restaurant it looks worn and dated.

Heres the rundown on the food. The food tasted old here, like from the day before. Not fresh. I went here a few years ago and it was much better.

There wasnt much selection of sea food except for shrimp at the salad bar and fillet of sole as a hot dish. The chicken tasted stringy. The prime rib didnt taste so prime. There was no aux jus but just a simple gravy. The vegetables looked like they had been sitting there a long time.

The waitress chewed me out twice for not finishing my plate. I told her the food is of not good quality and I am not going to force myself to eat it. Anyway its not of her business if I dont eat everything on my plate!

This buffet certainly is not worth $35. Its not worth $17.50. Its worth $13.50 at best. We should have just gone to the casino where the buffet is more reasonably priced.

Anyway my cheque came to $101.70 with tax & tip (I only tipped the waitress $2 because she chewed me out for not finishing my plate 2x. I should not have tipped her at all.) With the $40 gift card, thats around $60. You could argue the view was great so that justified the price, but I was really let down by the quality of the food and service.
