Shoppers Market Research, Lock Up Evergreen LLC High Dollar Ripoff - Too Good to be True New York New York

Thanks to the age old truth "If it's too good to be true, it probably is", this scam did not catch me. Don't let this catch you. I am reading of all sorts of variations - this is what they sent me.

A check for $3760 - 300 for me, 3200 for money transfer, 160 for service charges and 100 for shopping. Be a mystery shopper and get paid big money. Seriously, who gives up that kind of money up front?

The part-time employment offer stipulates that you spend $100 dollars at one of a list of stores and then fax a report on the experience. Then you "test" a payment system (MoneyGram or Western Union) by sending $3200 to Natasha Dennis or Chantelle Lomax, both of New York.

The check is allegedly drawn on the Fifth Third Bank in Chicago, IL from the account of Lock Up Evergreen LLC's general disbursement fund. Neither exist as far as I've been able to determine. The letter had no return address and postmark was Canadian.

Unlike other comments made on this site, the check was perforated and had security features such as microprint and watermarks.
