It was heartening but sad to learn that other folks had encountered the same difficulties we had when we tried to order a satellite system from Sky Box TV at www.skyboxco.com. As with many things that seem to be too good to be true, this offer of a satellite system at $39.99 (plus shipping, handling and installation) simply was.

After one email immediately confirming our order, nothing followed. And nearly two months later, we've never received a response or any equipment.

Here's the history of our attempts to contact Sky Box TV:

One week after order:
Follow-up phone message,
Follow-up email.
No response.

Two weeks after order:
Follow-up phone messages. Voicemail rejected - 'mailbox full.'
Follow-up email. Email rejected - 'mailbox overloaded.'
Used interactive help chat on website that promised 24-48 hour response. No response.

Three weeks after order:
Left new messages.
Email box still 'overloaded.'
No response.

One month after order:
Put stop pay on order through our credit card company. The order had, of course, already been charged even though we had never received any further communication or product from the company after the immediate initial email. Our credit card company gave this phone number of contact (different from the website): 1-888-720-9197.

We have also tried to call this number - constant busy signal or no one picks up.

Has anyone has reported this company to the Better Business Bureau or Dish TV? Why is their website still up and ensnaring new customers? How do we put a stop to this?

If you've been struck by Sky Box TV and are still waiting for either a product or any kind of response and want to cancel, call this number (678) 417-6301 provided by Ted of Sterling, VA. It works. You'll get an actual live voice who will cancel your order.



I'd also suggest that you call your credit card company to stop the charge as we did.



With all the bad news about cable and satellite diservices, I think we'll just stick to the airwaves, tapes, books and the movies!
