Slap Shot Painting & Taping Did not pay wages for employment, and did not return tools Northfield Falls Vermont
*REBUTTAL Owner of company: Slap Shot Painting & Taping Employee complaint (JOHN LARKIN MONTPELIER VT)
*Author of original report: Thanx you Mr. Doney
I was employed by Jeff Doney the owner of Slap Shot painting and Taping in 2008. Jeff Doney suddenly failed to return any phone calls, and kept my tools and pay checks at a sum of $2200.00. I made many attempts to contact Jeff, yet I received no response until I filed with Small Claim Court Only then did he respond with a counter suite.
Today was his big day in court.... and guess what; the man was a "no show". I was granted my claim, and consequently his counterclaim was dismissed with prejudice. Ref: Docket No. 24-1-09 Superior Court of Vermont 9:00am 4/28/09. Practice due diligence before engage in any type of contract with a company.

Slap Shot Painting & Taping Employee complaint (JOHN LARKIN MONTPELIER VT)
AUTHOR: Slap Shot Painting & Taping - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, August 06, 2009
I'm responding to the complaint from a prior employee.
First off this employee neglected to say that I was caring for my dyeing mother 12 hours a day 7 days a week. I am an only child and my father passed away 6 years ago. My mother died in September. If you've gone through the death of a parent you know how much is involved after.
John neglected to mention that he didn't have a drivers license. The whole time employed I made arrangements to get him to and from work. I would personally drive him to jobsites, come home do my office work, pick him up after work and drive him to his daily appointments in Barre. I treated John very well while he was employed for me. What shocks me the most about this is I really liked John and enjoyed his humor and thought he understood what I was going through personally. I understood what John was going through personally and consistently cut him breaks. I could have let him go on numerous occasions but again I was trying to help John.
John had a habbit of not showing up for work for days and did not call. During his absence from work he wouldn't return my calls so I never knew where he was and why he didn't come to work then I would get a call two days later apologizing. As far as me not returning his calls the last episode of John not showing up for work made me mad. I didn't answer his calls because I was contemplating on how I was going to deal with him for he left me in a bad situation on the job he was supposed to be at.
John was repeatedly asked to file his time cards for his hours worked as this is my company policy and all my employees received written notification regarding this policy. He neglected to do so. As far as the tools mentioned they were ladders that John asked us to bring to jobsites that he would be working at. I did call John after awhile passed and told him that I wanted to drop his ladders off and he told me to stay off his property. This is where all this began. I received notification to appear in court for the lost wages and the tools.
Yes I didn't pay him and yes I did have his ladders in my possession. If John had submitted time cards he would have gotten payed and I had no intentions of keeping Johns ladders for I do not need to depend on my employees equipment I have my own. He claimed in his court order that I had more ladders than I really did and based on my records and according to the general contractor on the job he claimed that I owed him more wages than I did. I had every intention of appearing in court that day and I totally forgot because of all the stuff mentioned above that I was dealing with including this piled on top.
I had eight employees working for me this past winter and always paid them. I pay my bills including MY COMPANY TAXES and never missed a payday for any employee with the exception of John Larkin from Montpelier VT.
To be honest the day I wrote the check for John I felt a big weight lifted off my shoulders. I was glad to have this behind me. A couple weeks ago I was on the internet and came across this report and I was in total shock that John had to take this one step further. It saddens me even more that he wrote this about me but couldn't sign his name.
It's pretty sad that people can go out on the internet and write the stuff they do and the people reading it have no idea about the person writing it.
Sincerely,
Jeff Doney
