Smart Bargains was having a sale on 1200 Thread Count sheets I got the sheets in and I felt them and didn't think anything of it and put them in the washer. I wash the sheets take them out of the dryer and can we say CARDBOARD sheets I just paid $80.00 for cardboard sheets. I emailed customer service and this is what I got:

We have received your request to return the Luxury 2-Ply 1200TC Striped Sateen Sheet Set. Please note we are unable to accept the return of laundered sheets. If your merchandise is returned back to us, it will be rejected by the warehouse and sent back to you. We thank you for choosing SmartBargains.com.

So I then called and they gave me the same story sorry we can't take sheets that have been washed back. So basically I told her that if you think you bought 1200 thread count sheets you wash them and they feel like cardboard your S.O.L. There is no return them to my attention I want to feel the sheets and make sure these weren't packaged wrong or maybe a defect in the sheets NOTHING.... Basically sorry that you thought you bought 1200 thread count sheets but now that you washed them and really know they aren't what you paid for Im sorry there is nothing we can do. I understand no one wants sheets that have been washed back but I also don't want to pay $80.00 for cardboard sheets!

What happen to the customer service with these companies! At least ask me to ship it back so that they can examine them and see what Im talking about. No customer service today is 1. say sorry 2. say sorry 3. I apologize 4. push off to another rep until you get the Im sorry again there is nothing we can do. Can someone just say sorry you got scammed at least speak the truth!!
So to everyone that is reading this and haven't bought from Smart Bargains don't buy any bedding items from them.. Remember 1200TC means CARDBOARD!!

Sent Filthy, Stained, Used Bedding as NEW

AUTHOR: Crystal in Ohio - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, March 05, 2010

I ordered a bedding set for my daughter with this company and what was sent was just awful...dirty is not even the word. It was used, stained, stinky and just gross.  I immediately contacted this company, and was told that a prepaid shipping label would be emailed to me directly. It was not. I finally, days later, got madder and madder and called them and spoke to them again. Oh, it was supposed to be emailed but couldn't be because they "couldn't find the info on the manufacturer. Just give it a few more days."  I immediately asked if they were going to stall me and then tell me my refund time limit was up? The CS lady said, No...

So I let her know I was extremely upset over the fact that I received nasty bedding (I mean, STAINS??) and asked if that wasn't a health hazard? I got an email about 10 mins later, with the shipping label to ship it back UPS free of charge. My point is this:  they MUST be taking in returned merchandise and selling it as new. And...they were NOT going to follow through until I called and let them know I was taking names down and wasn't going to be put off.  I am very soft-spoken and it takes a bit to row me up, but please...this was an $80 bedding set, bought for my little girl, and had what looked like urine on it, and is disgusting. I am shipping back tomorrow. Will either update or file a separate complaint if not credited appropriately.

I'm sorry, guys, but thanks, too

AUTHOR: Juliet - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 03, 2007

Personally, I am very grateful to the respondent A., from R. North Carolina. I was totally wrong about what to expect from higher thread count sheets!! Yes, I would've expected them to be eiderdown soft lololol.

I am so sorry for the two writers who were not treated properly. To think that ANYONE is going to buy sheets, and NOT wash them - that's a ripoff on the part of the company, in my opinion. You HAVE to wash new sheets, before you can find out if you like them.

Maybe I'm just a incorrigible department store/online shopper, lololol, but wow, to not accept machine washed sheets back??? Would ANYONE at SmartBargains personally receive bedsheets, and know UPON SIGHT, that they are happy with them?

I learned a lot from a few short posts! Seriously! Again, I'm so sorry for the bad service, but do appreciate the well-learned lesson about thread counts, and not being able to expect to return washed bedsheets.

Smart Bargains no longer on my list

AUTHOR: Lori - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Because of this complaint, and correspondance with the company regarding same, I've removed this company from my list of 'business' associates. I will NOT do business with a company that leaves their customers hanging in the wind.

The reason that they would not accept return of this item was because they couldn't resell it.... poor reasoning to me when a customer is dissatisfied with the product they purchased. THEIR reason for not accepting return was because they didn't know when or how the sheets had been damaged. Ok, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out if the sheets were cooked in a dryer, or if they were simply a defective product from the factory. Sheesh.

As for our family and friends, Smart Bargains will no longer get any business from us because in our own opinion, if we aren't important enough to listen to, they aren't important enough to trust with our money.

1200 Thread sheets

AUTHOR: A - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Keep in mind that when you purchase high thread count sheets that they are going to be stiffer than the lower thread count sheets. Reason? there are 1200 thread woven in to a one square inch area, this makes the sheets more durable and stronger, not softer like most people tend to think. If you are looking for softness in sheets, you would not want to get a thread count any high than about 600 or so. With time, and washings, the higher thread count sheets will become softer to the touch as the fibers start to loosen. You did get a good deal with the sheets, but you just have to have the patience for them to soften up.
