My professional experience includes over 30 years of sales, and sales management, with many of the largest companies in the U.S.  Not to many companies however today are hiring 58 year olds  in this economy.  So read on as you look for jobs, young or old.

Smart Circle (also has many alias)  is best compared to the mouth breeders who feed on slim on the ocean floor.  Yes, I just referred myself to slim...since I have been unemployed for two years and no unemployment benefits, I did what any good American should do, look for and get a job.  Along comes Full Force Marketing, a local marketing arm of Smart Circle.  Smart Circle has hundreds, maybe thousands of "owners" doing their dirty work across the country.

Full Force Marketing in South Bend, IN was setup as a small business enterprise.  Promises to the local owner (thats what they are called) are like many pryamid schemes.  Full Force did the grunt work while Smart Circle reaped all the rewards.  My owner, moved on after two days after me being hired.

No worry, I've been in sales (opps, guilty, I didn't check out the company before accepting, but I also didn't have a job), and the money would roll in as promised.  Another new owner, well, he lasted two weeks.  Office closed.  No checks, no verification of my sales.  Office reopens week later with new owner.  OK, fool me once, fool me twice.  threes times ain't gonna happen and still no check or accounting of any sales or installation.

What upsets me more is that is has been going on for years and no one has done anything about it.  They advertise in CareerBuilder every week and for good reason.  Promises of upward management, working with Fortune 500 companies.   Read on.

Ok, didn't take me more than two days to understand their company philosophy.  Hire, turnover, hire turnover. Those stupid enough to stay on can become "owners" and could move to another city with a POT of gold (fools gold).  During the 6 weeks I was there, they hired more people than the fingers on both hands.  Most lasted 2, 3, 4 days.  Net pay, not enough decimal points in this paragraph.

Anyway, we sold DirecTv at Sam's Club and Best Buy.   You're paid minimum wage ($7.40/hr) or $100 per subscription sold.  You work 10-12 hour days, AND as a bonus, if you did at least 3 sales for the week, they wanted you to work a sixth day. OK, $7.40 time 40 is roughly $300 which is the same as commission.  Using my brain that I got from the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz, why would I want to work the sixth day which is a Tuesday which is the slowest day of the week.  I either make $300 for 5 days, or $300 for 6 days.  You do the math.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, and didn't want to mislead you.  Don't worry, I wasn't told either.  The minimum wage you were getting during the week, if you had no sales, you still got paid minimum wage, RIGHT?  Well, as it turns out, you don't really get it, they CLAW back any minimum wages paid.  So eventually, they get back any money paid one way or another...THEY sure aren't going to lose money on this deal, are they?  A pyramid scam doesn't work that way.  Just ask Bernie Madoff.

What happens to the thousands of unemployed, looking for legimate jobs after they fall victim to the Smart Circle fraud?  Who can afford to sue to get a small amount of money back?  Smart Circle has a great scam going on.  The following are some links to many complaints.
