Ignoring your debts is what got them sent to collections in the first place. The best thing to do is contact the collection agency (or law firm) and negotiate a settlement and if need be, a repayment plan.

Most collection agents know that you volunteering 50% of the debt is better than them spending the time and money to sue you to collect 100%
