Smitty's Automotive Service Very Expensive Brake Job Toledo Ohio

I was in the hospital at the time. My nephew was driving my car. The police stopped him and told him black smoke was coming from his left rear tire.

I had my nephew have my car towed to Smitty's Automotive Service at Heatherdowns Blvd. at Cheyenne because it is close to my apartment.

My nephew was told I needed the rear brakes redone. They redid the rear brakes including rotors, calipers, etc. and charged just over $700. He was told the front brakes still had 40% use left on them. All 4 brakes were done at the same time about 3 years previously. At that time I paid a little over $200, which was for 5 hours labor at $20 an hour plus parts. Only the new pads were needed at that time.

Perhaps I'm out of touch with reality, but $700 for just the rear brakes sounds very high to me. What do you think?
