Social Engine Is Scamming Clients for Maintenance Fees!

Social Engine sells social network software script.  The software has been known to have bugs.

this is not beta test software. It is ALL suppose to be in working order when you purchase it.

MANY also see that it hass 100% access code along with online documentation for its manual which are both great selling points.

What they DO NOT TELL PEOPLE is that they know it takes about a month to go through it all, and to get the very basics going with the software.  After this point maintence is $50 to fix things that go wrong with the ROOT base part of the program.

HERE IS THE SCAM!

They also know their are bugs within it.  And you usually find that out AFTER the 30 days.

When you contact them, they point you to the instruction and troubleshooting manual.

HOWEVER, they do not tell their clients that the manual is several years old and NOT AT ALL UP TO DATE

Example:  in many cases, like mine and those I have read like mine, you then find out that the lost password does not work correctly on the site!   Many people in the begining time to time loose thier first password. They know this.

SO the client . owner of site can not get into the admin area.

NOW they find out that the lost password is not working either!

which means they can NOT get into the site.  Now if they have hired a programmer to do work, they are already spending humdreds if not thousands of dollars on a website they can not even get into anymore and manybe even the programmer who did the web development off line, who can not get inside to upload it!

Social engine has clients by the balls.  They KNOW THE MANUAL IS Old. so the instructions are NOT VALID!  they wont work because the old version was based off a totally different data base. 

so when you contact them they tell you to pay the $50 bucks even though they KNOW ITS NOT THE CLIENTS..... its a scam set up by social engine to keep getting $50 bucks from those that buy it!

I personally have 4 emails where i confronted them and they clearly agree that the manual is up to date and will not still send me the instuctions on how to fix the database to reset the passcodes!  

Their customer service is set up where they will not HELP THOSE, knowing its their error, but only send you to create a ticket. And you can not create a ticket unless you pay up!  And I have emails that say they were not aware of this yet they would not fix the problem NOR have they with same issues from others in years!!!!!!!  because that is a meal ticket...... a service scam from bugs they know are there!

Then 3 times they said i will help you.  and they send me information again to old data base fix and not the software they have been selling the last few years.  again!   and try to get me to pay again after that.

ITS A BIG HASSLE for many, just look online. You will find simular horror stories. Many do not want money back they have invested too much to just get back 299, after investing hundreds, and in most cases thousands in their website!  Yet they, like me, refuse to be blackmailed for a fix that was part of the roots of software.

They have had years to fix this and keep making excuses when they get caught. Even a new owner excuse inwhich case they have had over a year to correct it if that is true before they reeased another verision.  and its still going on.

social engine is scamming people for serive fees from known bugs in their script and old manual.  

Complaints have been made to atty generals office for fraud scam related.  Should you have issues, please sign on and warn people about them and also file a complaint at CA and CO atty generals office.

Another false and misleading statement

This is the same comment sent to every person who complains about the software. Your updates contain the outdated coding that then causes issues that need support. This then gives Social Engine the opportunity to hold the software owner hostage to their support expenses. If the product doesn't work then they need to stand behind it at their exspense no the buyers. Buyers beware of their so called passionate concerns. They are shallow to those they have ripped off.

FACT IS...  even if u have fixed some of this.......... truth bbe told..

When u oontact support...... or anyone else there YOU CAN NOT GET THROUGH TO TELL THEM ANYTHING without being Charged!

Even if the bug is the script error.

I went through hell....... and this is why i filed this complaint.

IF you look one,,, AND ANYONE CAN... IT SHOWS HUNDREDS OF OTHERS who had nightmare of same issues.

U TRAIN your people and have it set up like that.

UNLeSS u PAY... U can not get through even if its a script bug or issue.

 

SHAME ON YOU........

also the script looks one way and when you get it... it is NOT like what demo looks like and all. very misleading.

We're sorry to hear about the trouble that you had to face and your experience with the SocialEngine product and its services.

Some years ago, SocialEngine released its version 4 but version 3 was not discontinued because of which some articles existed for version 3 as well. Same was the case with the password resetting knowledgebase article that you've referred to in your report. We acknowledge our fault in not segregating the articles in sub-sections (version-wise) to avoid such confusions.

After you reported this issue, we had updated this article and the latest one can be checked here: support.socialengine.com/php/customer/portal/articles/1639195-manually-reset-an-admin-password . We are now continuously updating our knowledgebase section to help our community with various whats and hows.

We've also taken our public bug tracker to another level by recently moving it to GitHub (github.com/SocialEngine/phpv4-issues/issues), and that provides for complete transparency and helps us consolidate feedback from our awesome community. This clearly says that we don't encourage our customers to purchase support extension to report well-demonstrated bugs in the software. If there are any bug reports or feature suggestions, they can report them to us via GitHub and we take appropriate actions on such issues.

SocialEngine believes in building its scale and strategies for the benefit of its customers.
