I purchased a Sony tape recorder [Model M-530V; SN897533]. Less than a year later, it somehow got stuck in fastforward when I wasn't even using it and the electronics burned up inside.

Sony refused to fix or replace the unit unless I paid double what the unit was orignally worth.
