My name is Rebecca. My step daughter and I bought a car from South 71 Auto Sales in December, 2007. We located and took possession of the car at Vista Auto Sales in Kansas City, Missouri, and was told that South 71 was in partners with them and we would have to do our paperwork for the loan there in Grandview. We did all of this, except we never received a Title. The car was taken by it's original owner, complete with all of my step-daughter's personal belongings. We were approved for our loan. I called the police and reported the car stolen. We found the car, called the police, and they would not let us take possession of the car because the original owner had the title, and he said he never got paid by South 71 Auto Sales. The police wouldn't let us get my step daughter's personal belongings out of the car. I called the finance company, Westlake Financial out of Los Angles California, and was told the the financing had gone thorugh.
So now, we are stuck with a loan and no car. I have reported them the Attorney General's office too, and the Dept. of Revenue, and anybody else that will listen. The representative from Westlake said the loan is null and void, but I don't have anything in writing on that. South 71 Auto has not refunded the $600.00 that we put down on the car. I have contacted a lawyer.

Over 4000 vehicles sold and only 2 complaints in 10 years.
Rebecca and her step Daughter were trying to purchase a vhicle from another car dealer named Robert Lichtsinn. South 71 Auto Sales was only trying to arrange financing for Rebecca & her step Daughter because she did not have full cash price & could not arrange financing on her own. We could not arrange financing the way Rebecca & Mr. Lichtsinn needed. It was a co-signer matter needing different qualification and structure, according to the financial instatution. Since the financing was never finally approved or the purchase funded, Mr. Lichtsinn took the vehicle back & refunded Rebecca's down payment.
South 71 Auto Sales did meet with the Police and the State of Missouri to make sure all facts were known and clear. Both agencies found no violation by South 71 Auto Sales. No loan was ever made & Rebecca is not responsible for any payments
South 71 Auto sales only function was to arrange financing. It is still unknown why
Rebecca is unhappt with us. We have had no contact with Rebecca for a year.
South 71 Auto Sales has done business in Missouri for 10 years. Our record is exellent, over 4000 vehicles sold. We address problems and complaints promptly and honestly and try to solve any problems.

Did get back downpayment, still waiting on information regarding the loan. Still working with Dept of Revenue, BBB and Atty General's Office.

Vista Auto has been shut down by the State. The original owner, Rob Lichtsinn has a dealership in downtown Kansas City, Lichtsinn Motors, Inc. They are also shut down. South 71 Auto says it never had any dealings with Rob, but his name appears on our bill of sale as the salesman. The original inspection on the car was fraud, too, as the windshield was cracked. I had it inspected myself at South 71 Auto and they failed the inspection. South 71 should be avoided at all costs. The representative from Westlake Financial said they were going to pull their company from the financing of any vehicles from South 71 Auto. I'll believe that when I see it.
