The South Adams County Water & Sanitation District is Ripping Everyone Off ! They charge for a Minimum of 1000 Gallons of water a DAY !! Even though I only use 75-100 gallons on an average day ! They Round it up to 1000 Gallons a Day , MINIMUM ! So they can claim that I used 76,000 gallons of water in August of 2017 ! I filed a formal complaint with the Colorado PUC , However , SACWSD is not regulated by Anyone ! They are regulated by THEMSELVES ! A Bunch of Rapacious CROOKS !!! Their customers dont know how they are being SCREWED !

Clarification needed...

In your original post you stated you used an average of 75-100 gallons of water a day.  If we expand that out you are using about 3,000 gallons each month.

In your update you state that you use an average of 50,000 to 55,000 gallons of water during this two month period.  That gives you an average of about 833 Gallons a day or around 10 times what you claim was your average in the original post.

So at the very least one of your numbers are wrong, that perhaps you can provide clarification on.

You also did not post one very important page of the bill. Any indication of what you were actually billed, including usage, rates, and total due.  This too could clear up some items as it is possible that you are seeing billing by gallons instead of Cubic Feet.

You also stated that you have asked them for clarification and they just ignored you.  What does that mean?  Because unless you are just sending 10 years worth of documents to some random address, there has to be at least some communication between you and them?  It may not be the answer you think you should be getting but it doesn't mean you are being ignored.

It is way to complicated !

I have asked SACWSD for an explanation , they just Ignore Me!

I have recieved NO Answers !

I WAS Charged for 76,000 Gallons !

That is IMPOSSIBLE that I used that much water !!

I have provided them with 10 years of statements showing that

my average usage in July & August were appx 50-55,000 gallons !

Education

I really wish that before people start waisting all of this time and energy to try and prove something is a Ripoff, that they instead would spend a few minutes to EDUCATE themselves.

If you look at your bill, where in your usage does it state that is the number of gallons you used?  It doesn't does it?  Well here is why.

Water utilities measure usage in terms of Cubic Feet and if you would like to do the math 1 Cubic Foot equals about 7.48 Gallons of water.

But before you start to scream that they are claiming you are using 7,480 gallons of water per day also realize that the water bills also will generally contain some sort of multiplier(generally 100).  This is because the rate per CF is often a fractional cent value that it needs to be at this value to be able to compute a cost without some serious rounding issues.

If this applies to your bill then you will see that for each 1,000 units billed you used 10 Cubic Feet of water which equates about 74.8 Gallons.  Which is right where you stated you are at.

I will also say that when it comes to actual billing, they will take the values from two meter points.  The time when the billing period stated, and the time when the billing period ended.  The water you used is the difference between those two.  So while your "daily usage" may show some rounding, in the overall bill you are billed for ONLY the water used.  That is if it showed you used 4,000 units in 2 days.  It doesn't matter if you used 1,000 units one day and 3,000 the next or 2 days of 2,000 units.  In the end it is still 4,000 units.

If you still have doubts then perhaps you should contact someone there directly to explain the billing in more detail for you.
