Southern California Estate Sales & Appraisal work in partnership with Leavey Estate Sales.
They are one in the same --- DO NOT USE either company. We were blatantly misled by Cathie Pitts (Cathie Leavey) and her husband TJ Leavey.
Cathie came into our home with promises of a successful sale where we would both make money but instead, only "THEY" made money! I have posted a complaint on Yelp and two others have contacted me with similar stories of being RIPPED OFF by Cathie & TJ!!! They will steal your belongings and not pay you for your belongings.
After taking our furniture on consignment, 'Cathie & Crew" went MIA. We did not hear from them for months. They avoided our calls and emails. After exhaustive efforts to make communication, AND MUCH AGGRIVATION and being lied to by Cathie .... the check finally arrived.
WE WERE SHOCKED upon opening the envelope. No where NEAR the value of Cathie's low-ball 'minimum' quote when she came in our home and saw the antiques and mint condition, high quality fine furniture we owned. The check she eventually sent was a low three figure number. We WERE 100% ROBBED and so were the others I spoke with. Same HORRIBLE stories of how they were treated by Cathie & TJ.
The payment was made on a personal check from Cathie's account, no business letterhead representing either company was used for any paperwork. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and UNACCEPTABLE.
Cathie also charged misc. fees for truck, labor, and even gasoline. We were never told about paying any of this but she deducted these from the already FALSE total to make her pay-out even lower. Her percentage fee also was raised from what she wrote on her contract. It was all horrible. Beware. They will cheat you in any way they can think of. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING. Do not fall for Cathie's manipulative 'cheerful' personality. It's all FAKE.
They do not provide professional documentation or photos as other reputable estate business will do. Do your homework and find a professional company.
SCES&A & Leavey Estate Sales 'appear to be' set up to take advantage of elderly people and families at a difficult time of their lives. Lowest of the low. How do these type of people sleep at night?

When our family was faced with the difficult task of relocating our parents to a care facility we turned to the wonderful professionals of So-Cal Estate Sales. We met with Cathie Pitts and her crew to discuss what our options were. Cathie was able to quickly establish a base value for our parent's belongings. Cathie helped us to understand the steps we needed to take to go through the process of an estate sale.
In the end, we could not have been happier with the final result. Our parent's things were handled with care as were we. If you're facing a similar difficult time in your family I highly recommend you call Cathie Pitts at So-Cal Estate sales.
