Spencers TV And Appliance - Joseph S. Mgr No fulfilment on extended warranty coverage ripoff Mesa Arizona

We have owned a self cleaning/smooth surface oven before. When we purchased a GE appliance with Spencers we also purchased the extended warranty. In our second year or so of using the stove/oven I noticed that it just wasn't cleaning up very well using the self cleaning option. Even after extending the time from 3 to 4 hours. Too much stuff was left on the door and I told Spencers I wasn't sure if it was the operation of the stove or if something was really wrong in there. The door didn't seem to close tight.

After calling for service we were informed that our warranty did not cover the cleaning components. It covered other things though but that was of no use. I complained asking what good is a warranty if you can't have the cleaning components serivced for operation capability? I asked for the manager. He's not here; he'll call you back.

A few days later I call for the manager again. He's busy, he'll call you back. Another day and both phone lines to store have mailboxes and are full ! The manager J. Sanders did manage to call me back and still insisted the warranty wasn't any good.

My husband wrote complaining about the losey warranty and asked how they could be so sure the problem wasn't covered when no one even came out to see if it was the cleaning components not performing in the first place!?!

We canceled the balance of warrenty with only about 6 mos. left on it.

The whole problem with this situation was the lack of service on Spencers part. They never once said we'll have someone check it out to see what the problem is and if it is covered. Even though I was trying to tell them it doesn't look like the door is closing all the way.



Mr. Anderson, thank you for the suggestion too. It wasn't G. E.'s fault. Next time the warranty will be with the manufactorer. I think it was deceiving of Spencers to sell a warranty of this type. It was basically No Good! We are very disappointed in them and will never shop Spencers Again!

I retired from GE Energy 3 years ago. I also worked at GE Aircraft Engines and Power Gen. We have all-GE appliances- fancy that! We also have Service Protection Plus extended warranties through GE Appliance in Louisville KY.



These Service Protection Plus warranties are insured by a policy issued by American Bankers Insurance Co. of FL. As far as I know, everything is included- at least that has been the story from the repair man who on various visits fixed our over-the-range microwave (new door), the in-wall double oven (new control panel to replace one blown by power surges), and the clothes washer (he replaced the motor & coupling with GE's latest direct-drive motor).



If you did not get a *real* GE extended warranty with your GE appliance this time, the next time you want an extended warranty be sure you get one from the manufacturer and NOT a third party. When our current warranties expire, I will order new appliances because the price differential between renewing the warranties and new replacement appliances will not be that great.
