Spokane Home Center - Marlette Homes,Inc. goods delivered far from promised, major ripoff money pit Spokane Hermiston Washington and Oregon

I bought my manufactured home from Spokane Home Center in 1998. I chose a Marlette as this was supposed to be the top of the line in manufactured homes.

Shortly after I bought the home and it was set up on my property, I noticed that a wall in my walk in closet was soaked and so was my floor. The home was still under warranty and I had the dealer send someone out to fix the problem. It turned out to be a fitting connecting the shower head to the water supply. I was told at that time that there had been many problems with those fittings.
Once that problem was fixed, or so I thought, we had only to wait for the next round of water leaks due to those fittings. I had the exact same problem with my other shower over a year later. This of course was when my warranty had expired.

Another wall torn out and another fitting replaced.
Now the first shower that was fixed didn't show any signs of problems so we thought all was well....not so.
Just the other day, I was walking around outside my home and I heard a drip type noise coming from under my home. I took off the vent at the bottom of my house and low and behold there was water leaking from under my house, right under my tub.

I crawled in the crawl space and was horrified to find there was a huge bubble in the insulation which is incased in a thick black plastic that covers the entire underneath of the home.

What I found was mold and mildew on the outside of the plastic and of course the bubble was filled with water.
I had to cut open the bubble and release all the water, remove the insulation and expose the pipes and the sub floor to find out what was leaking.

I quickly figured out the leak was coming from above which meant I had to take out a portion of the same wall in my closet that was replaced before. The fitting was not the showerhead fitting it was the hot water supply this time. What was truly upsetting about this is that the fitting was simply not tightened at all. This means the leak has been going on for over four years now.
When Spokane Home Center sent a man out to repair the shower head fitting leak, one would think he would have inspected all other fittings at the time he had my entire wall out. To have this last fitting simply not be tightened at all is simply insane. I can only assume the man who came to fix my showerhead fitting just ignored the leak in the hot water supply.

When I had to take out the other wall for the other shower, I replaced the fittings and kept the wall open for a few weeks to make sure nothing was going to loosen or leak again. This is how I know that this fitting was never tight to begin with in the area I now am dealing with again.

This home was built in Hermiston Oregon and was done very poorly I might add. The windows are also a huge heart ache. It turns out that my Low E windows were put together wrong at the factory and now they are all turning rust colored, that is to say the actual glass is rusty.

I complained to Spokane Home Center and was told that I would have to deal directly with the maker of the windows. I was also told that Spokane Home Center has been having trouble with those windows going bad on the homes they sell and that the original makers of the windows went out of business. Supposedly another company was honoring the warranties of the old window maker. I contacted them and was given instructions on how to make a claim. I did everything required and sent off my claim. A year and a couple months later, having not heard from the window company, I went out to Spokane Home Center and complained once again. They told me they would try to find out what happened to my claim and so they did. What they found out was that all claims take a year and a half to recover any damages and that you only get one third the replacement cost of each window from the new company.

One third???? Can you believe that? I paid over $60,000.00 for this home and I can't have plumbing that works without causing major damage, I can't see out my windows because they are all turning red, and my home was only warrantied for one year and one month. This is a serious rip off indeed!

The Spokane Home Center is defensive when approached about any problems and certainly they don't care if you have a problem after the warranty expires. Also I would point out that the actual manufacturer of this home, Marlette Homes of Hermiston Oregon make a shoddy product and use contractors that have no idea what they are doing.
How seriously wrong it is to contract with people that have a bad reputation and or that do such poor work that they are forced to go out of business and then leave the consumer up in arms and without a decent choice of getting any kind of satisfaction.

My fear naturally is that all the plumbing fittings will eventually be a problem for me as they are all the same fittings and put in by the same company. I wonder if my house will just float away someday.

Worse yet, while I'm floating away, I won't be able to see where I'm going due to my red windows.
This Marlette maker and the dealership are definitly thumbs down companies and I would not recommend throwing your hard earned money away on their products.
