I am writing this report in hopes that others do not fall into a trap with this particular dealership. The folks that run this place are snakes. I honestly do not know how they can sleep at night.

I am saying this because of our personal experience with them. They are not fair. We knew going into this deal with them two years ago that it was not the best option for us, but at the time the only option for us to get a decent vehicle on the road that was the size we needed and suitable and safe for our growing family.

These folks will smile in your face and make great deals with you, but the financing/interest rate is unreal at 23.9%. Okay, so we understood that and we accepted the risk of paying so much interest over the next 5 years. My husband and I faithfully met our obligation each month for over two years. We had never fallen on the REPO list, and we paid on time each month.

They are easy to work with as long as you are paying, but they are very nasty, rude people if you run into problems. The very first time in two and a half years that we were running late on our payment, they called and told us that we were behind. I let the finance woman there know that I had been out of town on an emergency with my mother whom needed surgery right away.

I had been gone for three weeks and was just getting home. My entire family with the exception of my two year old was here working (I have teen sons that both have jobs) and my husband was working around the clock while I was gone.

I explained to her this situation and that I was sorry we were late and I would be in the office the following morning to make a full payment which is all that was required at the time. We were only 32 days overdue when I had this conversation with this woman. She said, well it went to REPO two days ago (on the 30th day of being late!) and I cannot guarantee it won't get taken before tomorrow morning. (They have very close ties with this tow company and she could have made a call very easily for us for one night) I told her I was trying to get the payment to her before the close of business at 7pm, but when she called that day, it was already 6pm and I didn't have all the money in my bank account at that time. She knows us well and knows that when I say I am going to be there to pay, I am ALWAYS there.

Well, needless to say....the louses picked our truck up three hours later after my conversation with her at 10pm that night. I was going there the next morning to pay my bill! I called her the next morning and told her they got the truck, where was it. She said..oh its right here on our lot. I said, thanks alot. I told you I would be there this morning to make my payment. Can I please come in and pay it and take my truck back? She said, no. Now you owe TWO months payments on it, the tow fee, the REPO fee and proof of current insurance. The fee for the lot is $75 a day and I had 15 days to get all the money together in order to get the truck back.

I think that it was a pretty crappy thing to do to customers that had always been forthright and had paid their bill on time each month, with the exception of one month, as a result of a family emergency. These people do not care and they must have dark hearts and souls to be able to sleep at night. They took our only vehicle, we have three kids and a one income household that struggles to live the dream and raise our family to the best of our ability. I think that they should have been a little bit more lenient to a good customer and not popped our vehicle the first thirty days it was overdue. It wasn't going to stay overdue, we are not like that.

So in ending my story, please, please consider very deeply the price that you could pay if you must deal with these people and their shady dealings. We are not bad folks and now we have to figure out how my husband can just get back and forth to work, much less how I am going to do anything when it comes to the kids and just being able to get to appointments and the grocery store.

It is a sad state of affairs in this country when people like this can stay in business and take such advantage of poor folks. I know that not everyone is not the best to do business with, but I really was hoping that our good payment history and polite way of dealing with them would have made a difference when we were in a tight spot. Nothing for nothing, it didn't mean a thing.

Good Luck if you must deal with these people, they just don't play fair.

You are the shady one

“I let the finance woman there know that I had been out of town on an emergency with my mother whom needed surgery right away.”

You were out of town for three weeks. Your payment was 32 days late; therefore, your payment was already eleven days late when you left town. The medical emergency was not related to your payment default.

St. Marys Motors is a subprime lender. The 23.9% interest rate is a reflection of your credit history so don’t pretend you are an innocent victim. You could have mailed them a payment from out of town. You claim they are shady but it was YOU that failed to meet the terms of the financial agreement. You have failed to provide any support for your claim that the dealer was not fair or that they took advantage of you.
