This guy is the king of insurance and financial losers. He tried to screw my mom out of her retirement. Steve has two things in mind and that is him and his commission. He sits in his office in Chicago lined with awards for selling insurance, pictures of himself and this idiot picture of him on the cover of some creepy magazine insurance agents who sell crap to old people. He should replace these with mirrors so he can stare at himself all day.
Not only is the guy a straight up liar and a sleezeball the product he sells is even worse. He pushes indexed annuities as the best investment no matter what your situation is. Odd that he doesn't own the same product he sells. The reason Steve and his like minded advisory team sell indexed annuties is simple, they pay the most commission to him. If you put your money in one of these annuities you will never see it again. Instead you will get a monthly check, minus heavy fees and expenses that go to him and his company. Also, there are surrender charges that are ridiculous. If you change your mind and want the money back your are almost guaranteed to lose half your investment at best. Retain Your Gains is his website. The only one retaining Your Gains is him.
I asked my financial advisor about Steve and he is a well known rip off artist in the business and his best pitch is himself. Avoid Steve like the ebola virus.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Steven DeJohn wrongfully and libelously attacked by competitor who does not leave his name in the absurd and cowardly personal attack.

AUTHOR: Steve - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, January 25, 2016

I am responding to a false report on me and my company made by an over zealous competitor who personally attacked my character and more importantly cites numerous fictional meetings and several 100% falsehoods about me, my company, how we get compensated and what we do for our clients. This competitor came to my office interviewing for a sales position when all along he simply wanted to steal our proprietary information. This is the type of advisor that gives our business a black eye. I was on the cover of Senior Market Advisor Magazine in June 2006. This is a magazine for insurance professionals of which they interview hundreds of candidates for only 12 monthly editions of which they pool from 1,000,000.00 agents in the United States. The comments by this anonymous coward " creepy magazine" are a direct insult to the industry and thus highly regarded publication. I will address all of this anonymous authors statements in sequence. Forget the childish slang and name calling that children don't even use as this author seems so comfortable with. Let's discuss his libelous and factually wrong comments. First: We never push index annuities no matter what the situation is. Our annuity companies have strict suitability policies and we adhere to them at all times. Second: I do own an index annuity as does my wife. This is lie # 2. Think about it how would he have this knowledge? Third: Pays the most commission? Absolutely factually wrong and mis leading. Fourth: Never see your money again? 100 % false. We sell walk away annuities at the end of their term. Again a uneducated malicious and wrecked less statement. Fifth: A monthly check minus heavy fees and expenses that go to me and my company. Again 100% false. This assures me this competitor is a broker who sells risk products like mutual funds and stocks and lives in the world of fees and expenses. His knowledge of how insurance agents get paid on annuity sales is embarrassing. We get paid by the insurance companies. We never get fees and expenses from a client pay to us, never. Sixth: Surrender charges. All annuities have surrender charges and annuities have been around since the Roman Empire. With all the guarantees, up from bonuses, income for life and never lose money in bear markets these contracts call for early withdrawal charges just like CD's and B share mutual funds. Seventh: Guaranteed to lose half your investment if you want out. Again ignorance. Our annuities have declining surrender charges starting at 10% year one and decreasing each year there after. Eighth: His personal attacks on me only reveals his envy of our successful company that he cannot achieve. We've never lost one dollar of our clients money, ever. In conclusion the fact that anyone can maliciously attack ones character and business in the open wild Wild West we know as the Internet unfortunately we all have to live with it. If this rebuttal gets posted I will be somewhat surprised as the owner of this site is in hiding Ed Magedson. He is involved in numerous lawsuits and he cannot be found for comment. I feel sorry for this advisor who writes such malicious attacks with zero knowledge about our products strength and promises we provide to our clients. Onward and upward.
