Steve Kruse - Stonehenge Kennels ripoff - selling sick and genetically defective puppies. WEST POINT Iowa

We purchased an English Bulldog puppy recently from what I thought was a reputuable pet shop in our town- Turns out "Helga" has a congenital problem that her mother most likely also had (so should NOT have been bred)- Pet shop got her from Steve Kruse, whom I later learned runs a puppy mill & breeds unhealthy dogs. I have seen complaint after complaint on this Website similar to mine (i.e. $10k+ in medical expenses or puppy died)...Has this guy not been sued yet?!? Poor little Helga- Only 5 mths old & has already been in hospital 3x & will be again. :( Have spent nearly $10k already in medical expenses.

In 2006 my son purchased me 2 yellow labs both males, supposedly both brothers, from Happiness is Pets in Orland Park, Il.

I bought a cavatzu at a puppy store in Oak Lwan, IL.  And the breeder is Steve Kruse.  I'm a little worried now because I've been hearing terrible things about this gu.  Please let me know because I want this man to be punished for animal cruelty.  I love my Lucy she is 8 months and has been healthy so far but now I'm worried.  Please let me know what I can do I'll sign a petition but I feel there's something we can do that will be more beneficiary.  Thanks I appreciate all the help.

I purchased a a choc lab from Happiness is pets Lombard IL - the breeder is Steve Kruse my dog has a genetic eye problem an will need to see a specialist for the rest of his life- he now has knee problems - his knee keeps popping out they tell me it is also genetic from overbreeding - he is only 1 yr old. I would like to help close down Steve's puppy mill and bring down the pet shops that know where there are getting these dogs from and have them also shut down!! people pay good money thinking they are getting a healthy dog - in which case is a big LIE!!!
I would like to hear back from other people who are having the same problem with their dog or dogs.

I too saw the same woman in Naperville. Her name was Joanne. I have had many conversations with her boyfriend "Ray" who she says is the breeder but is not. I bought my bully 1 1/2 years ago and have also spent tons of money on her.

My wife and I purchased an English bulldog puppy from a woman in Naperville who claimed to have gotten the puppy from her boyfriend in Iowa.
He's been sick since he's been little and we've spent over $10,000 in surgeries, vet visits and other treatments.

I just recently put my Stonehenge dog to sleep at the young age of 3 years old. Corneal Dystrophy and serious elbow dysplasia which put her in more pain than I could bear to watch.

The conditions at Michelle's kennel was disgusting. The numbers of defective dogs and puppies sold by both of them are horrifing.

I have tried contacting Michelle and have never recieved a response as of yet. I will gladly offer my help to see these people held accountable for the abuse they inflict on the dogs they produce and keep and the pain & suffering they brought on their unknowing customers. Unforgivable.

Please contact me regarding your lawsuit. I would love to help bring justice to a horrible man. Also please look at this website I found regarding Steve Kruse.

NEVER buy a puppy from a petstore! This ripoff report is a textbook illustration of what happens when you do. Petstores that sell live puppies are the retail outlets for the wholesale pet industry (puppymills). Puppies from these wholesalers are subjected to long journeys in tractor trailers while still too young to have received their final booster shots against parvo and other canine diseases with the obvious end result of disease. Many are infested with worms as well. A large number of these pups die en route or shortly upon arriving at their destination.

If you want to put this industry out of business, do not purchase a puppy or anything else from a petshop that sells puppies. Do not even go into such an establishment if you have a young puppy at home. There are many documented cases of people bringing home parvovirus on their shoes or via an item purchased.

Another way to curtail this cruel industry would be legislation prohibiting the transfer of puppies under the age of 6 mos to another location for (re)sale. If a market still existed for older puppies at least they could be fully innoculated at this age and thus stand a better chance of surviving the trip to the petstore.

BUY a puppy from a reputable show breeder or from a person who has bred their family pet and has home-raised puppies for sale. Both charge less and provide more (ie vaccinations, worming, AKC papers, proper socialization and early training). Most petstore puppies are registered with a sham registry because the required dna testing for AKC registration would reveal that these puppies are not purebred.

I PURCHASED TWO PUPPIES CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIELS AND ONE DIED A HORRIBLE DEATH WITH 18 DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED HER AND MY MALE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR TWO WEEKS AND NOW WEIGHTS 4 POUNDS AND HE IS 3 MONTHS OLD. MY PUPPY DIED OF PNEUMONIA. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I CAN DO? I HAVE WRITTEN TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE HUMANE SOCIETY AND DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF IOWA AND MY HOME STATE OF ILLINOIS. I PURCHASE THESE PUPPIES FROM HAPPIESS IS PETS. I WILL BE GLAD TO BE INVOLVED ANY UPCOMING LAWSUIT.
