My wife wanted to buy a sports car. Having been soured by other dealerships we have become pretty explicit as to what we want. My wife saw the Nissan 350ZX and went and test drove a Red 2004, with automatic transmission. She liked the car and wanted one only if I could fit in it.

I went later in the day, found the salesman she dealt with, checked out a 350ZX in the show and made sure I could fit in it, being tall and advised the salesman my would buy one, that we had arranged our own financing. He asked if my wife could come back with a deposit, he would see what he could do. I called the wife and advised her.

I got home that night and the salesman called advising he had found one and they would have it ready for pick up by Friday. My wife made the arrangements with the Credit Union, got together our down payment $10,000 and told the dealership they had to fax the information to the Credit Union, which they did. I examined the purchase order and the odometer statement my wife recieved from the Nissan Dealership, it all said 2004 Nissan 350ZX.

My wife had made an apointment at the bank and I went to sign the loan paperwork. We got the check and downpayment in hand but the wife has another appointment, so we decide to go to the dealership at 4:30 and pick up the car. Two to three hours after we left the bank our loan officer called us and asked us if we were buying a 2003 or 2004, we told her 2004. She advised us that the VIN number on the car we were purchasing was a 2003. I got on the phone and called Stewart Nissan and ask what was up, and the salesman took an in different attitude as if it didn't matter if it was a 2003 or 2004.

I told him our conversation was ended and hung up the phone. On Saturday a sales amanager calls, saying he's trying to find out what is going on. I explained it to him, that it doesn't take rocket science to see bait and switch, I just happened to have a good loan officer. He started acting as though they didn't know what was going on and I just blew up and ended that conversation.

On Monday the General Sales Manager calls and says we are right and that we were being charged 2004 money for a 2003 and if we wanted a 2004 we would have to give him a deposit. Give them a deposit! After what they just finished trying pull, thank God they aren't the only Nissan dealer around. A word to the wise, if the sales department is that bad, what kind of service do you think you'll get once they have your money?
