Verizon / Now Idearc Superpages began losing advertising customers to the internet. When we cancelled many of our ads, the company kept publishing not one, but multiple ads in many counties. Also a SUPERPAGES web listing was a "free" listing.. according to a sales person two years prior to the complaint we made to Verizon Idearc Superpages corporate offices.. SUPERPAGES was not free, and showed up as a $1000 in extra charges one year. We made multiple calls and letters to Verizon now Idearc regarding the UNAUTHORIZED SUPER PAGES ad charges. Despite our weeks of time and effort - the company Verizon / Idearc "Super Pages", re ran the SUPERPAGES ads again the following year and this time the bill was for roughly $4000 in charges for the year. We saw about $330 on our monthly bill. Call after call to Verizon Corporate Offices in New York and Texas, went in vain. Upon inspection of their contracts at the court, we found disturbing information showing more evidence of fraud had occurred by a verizon party we had never met.

Verizon "contracts" were all doctored up, by a sales person with a name "KORI KR****" ( didn't want to have her name on here in case it was done by another sales person) whom we had NEVER MET. The signatures were missing where we were required to authorize the ads - Verizon Corporate offices adjusted the bill removing the charges...correcting the matter... Or so we thought.

A few years later Verizon now called IDEARC, and one of their attorney's JOEL S STUTTMAN of White Plains, called to reopen the matter. We faxed him our complaints, and adjusted balance, then heard nothing more.. or so we thought.. Joel Stuttman waited awhile and then sued.. on behalf of Idearc Super Pages. Because he had no contracts, he was hoping to get a default judgment, which is what happens if you do not go to court. By going to court pro se to avoid high litigation costs, I did fine for awhile with a counter suit etc.. but never got the case past discovery meetings. One of my replies was not entered as it was not in legal format. Verizon / Idearc / Superpages / Stuttman motioned for a summary judgment, and obtained it in a very short time. I then hired an attorney who filed an order to show cause based on the facts. The court clerk did not have the judge sign it... and a formerly settled dispute was quadrupled based on compounding interest. Early 2001-2002 to 2009 at default interest rate is a tremendous unwarranted judgment to this company.

Advice to small business - Doing business with Verizon Idearc Supepages will give them the ability to entangle you in mirky business dealings and then legal matters will ensue. The company has headquarters in Texas and New York, they seem to be out of it.. and there appears to be no quality control as this matter proliferated for years, then became a problem a second time. Verizon Idearc / Superpages - owe me months of time lost, and stress from the unmanagable situation with their repeated ad runnings, billings and collection actions.

If anyone knows of a Kori Kr**** formerly of the Garden City Verizon, and can get her to come forth, it would be appreciated. She has committed our company to advertisements which we did not agree to. We have never met the person or even spoke to her. If she did not do this, then it would be appreciated if she could shed light on who listed her name on the Superpages ad contracts in which she prints our signature as "See Cover" or leaves it blank, others you can see the info is partly whited-out through the copy, and another "contract" shows a July 2001 date written in by KK while being stamped as received with an August 2002 date, obviously pasting former signatures of ours into the new ad "contracts" and not correcting the dates. All of these were copies and unverifiable as to what took place. Any knowldege / help on this would be appreciated from Idearc / Verizon employees, former attorneys, stock holders, board members etc.

If any other businesses in the New York area are familiar with this type of problem, and have a similar situation please notify me. The Verizon / Idearc attorney Joel Stuttman may have many cases of a similar nature, and similar contractual deficiencies in these Verizon / Idearc cases. I say this because he and his associate Dennis Murphy, did not seemed concerned when I told them of this, and proceeded despite this. I said " you are using fraudulent copies of contracts" and Stuttman did not flinch. The company Idearc / Verizon Superpages either gets this, or is being further damaged in the local business community by the attorneys conduct. I have shown this matter to many of the local businesses in my area that am friends with, who would be suseptible to this happening, to warn them.. about doing business with this company.... as they are non responsive to problems in their sales department, and are exceptionally litigious and destructive to work with.

If you are reading this, do not assume it is a managable situation - It is not. I wrote to the NYC corporate headquarters of Verizon now Idearc and they never wrote back assuring me anyone was fired, etc.. only the zero balance bill, that reappeared years later with Stuttman. So the top Verizon / Idearc Superpages corporate officers are likely aware of the corporate culture of this nature. I gave the attorneys for Idearc Verizon every opportunity to read their own blank contracts, yet they would not acknowledge it and correct the matter. They are chasing money and outwitting our Nassau Courts with bogus contracts and no fear of what should have happened.

The case should have proceeded and resulted in a sanction to both attorneys for not having evidence when going to a court, and also my counter claim should have prevailed for Verizon / Idearc's negligence in addressing this type of employee conduct. Although this did not happen, the company is not enriched by the distrust created in the Long Island business community when they go after small business based on this type of employee conduct. I do not see this as a win for the Stuttman /Superpages group but an unadressed matter they have yet to resolve properly.

The Superpages group still needs clients, and this is not a reccomended way to get or keep them.

I contribute to a few small newspapers occassionally with articles, but felt this was the right place this information belonged.. I will post additional information as they attempt to agressively collect the Superpages Idearc claim they have wrangled from our very busy Courts.
