Surf City Squeeze I was shortchanged $10.00 when I bought a smoothie from the couple that runs this scam. The wife started the blender really loudly while the husband took my twenty and gave me about $6.00 change for a $3.95 smoothie. When I tried to say "Excuse me," they both pretended that they couldn't hear me over the blender. The man hid my twenty in a backroom, and showed me the cashbox had only a ten. I went to Surf City Squeeze, in Sunrise Mall, to buy a $3.95 smoothie. A couple runs this store. The woman took my order (but not my money, curiously) and started making the smoothie. The man waited until the blender was running (again, very strange), then hopped off his chair to take my money. I gave him a twenty. He gave me a little over $6.00 change, shortchanging me about $10.00. The blender was running loudly at that point, as I tried to say "Excuse me" several times--they both pretended that the blender was too loud to hear me. The man went into the back room (to hide my twenty). He came back out, and the wife gave me the smoothie. I told them that I had given them a twenty. They immediately opened the cash box and showed me that there was only a ten and lower bills in it--no twenty. Then they started pointing the finger at me. I know without a doubt that I gave them a twenty, and that this couple runs a scam--my twenty is in their back room.
