Salesman in white dodge ram pickup truck with "Tahoe Industries" logo on the door showed up at our business with a load of outdoor power equipment covered in a tarp. The equipment consisted of a 10Kw Gasoline Generator, a 6.6Kw Diesel Generator, a gasoline powered twin tank air compressor, a gasoline power washer, a gasoline trash pump, and a shop style vacuum cleaner. It was all in new condition, but already had gas in the tanks.

He stated that he had just been at a "trade show" and that his boss told him to try to sell the "demo units" on his way home because "They only sell new equipment on their website and couldn't ship these because they had fuel in them.". He had a laminated display card showing the MSRP of every piece, which totaled nearly $20,000. He said, since it was used, "his boss told him they could let it go for $6,900, but only as a package deal". Since we were in need of a gas generator and a power washer, we were interested in buying the package, but only if we could resell the items we didn't need. His response to this was "At this price you could sell the other items and easily make more than enough money to cover what you want to keep.". We didn't have $6,900 to spend though, so we offered $4,500. After a while on the phone (most likely talking to himself), he agreed and we filled out the 1 year warranty forms.

Afterward, we posted the items for sale several times, starting off at half of the MSRP and lowering the prices every few weeks. Over a year later, they still have not sold. Not a single piece. Even after lowering the prices much lower than what WE paid for them, they still are sitting in our showroom.

After searching for prices on ebay and other online selling forums, we discovered MANY other people selling the exact same items. After contacting them, we discovered they were told the exact same line about the "trade show". Some even paid the full $6,900. Few of them had been able to sell any of the items either. Some told us about problems with quality and the warranty.

The reason for not being able to sell them, as best I can tell, is because you can buy the same equipment painted different colors with different logos on them on ebay for dirt cheap. If we would have bought the same items on ebay the total would have been much less. The other problem is, nobody trusts the quality of the supposed "Honda" engines because of the proliferation of knockoff units that are such close copies that the only way to know you're buying a real Honda engine is to buy it from a reputable Honda dealer. We have not had any problems with the power washer or the trash pump engines yet, but we have not used any of the other equipment.

What's WORSE is that a few months ago another salesman stopped by AGAIN with the SAME LINE. When he saw the equipment sitting in the showroom he turned BRIGHT RED and started studdering, and immediately tried to convince us that he was from the "real" Tahoe Industries and that there was another company out there trying to slander their name. He immediately changed his story from "just left a trade show" to "better quality items made in the USA with a better warranty". He was asked to leave.

I'm sure Homer sells some fine window cleaners. I have no idea who he is, but I'll take your word on it.

I'm not sure who you talked to, but it wasn't me. Maybe you talked to another person here. Since you don't have my personal information that you posted correct I'll assume that you talked to someone you thought was me.

Since you want to use eBay for price comparison to justify the value of your products I'll invite you and anyone else reading this to search eBay's completed item history for your products (specifically your products, not comparable items). What I found wasn not in line with the values you listed, not even close. There were (and are) plenty of your items listed for the prices you mentioned, and I was unable to find a single item that sold for the prices you listed. When you take a look at the average prices of the items that actually sold you can see why we chose not to sell them on eBay. We would have lost money, despite buying them for less than you claim they are worth. So we chose to post the items for sale locally to try to sell them items to people in immediate need of them. Contrary to your assessment of our location and the amount of traffic, we're on a well travelled road and are sitated between a town of 7,000 and a city of 28,000 and we have a customer base of several thousand people. In reality, we had plenty of people stop to look at the items but they were turned off by the price. The only item we were able to sell was the diesel generator and that was during a bout of power outages that emptied all of the local stores of generators. You are correct that we were unhappy for what we were able to sell it for.

In addition I'd suggest anyone curious about the selling tactics of your distributors to contact a few of the sellers currently listing your products on eBay and ask them if they happened to buy them from a person who had them on the back of a pickup truck who had a story similar to the one I mentioned in my original post.

If your distributors are not conveying the correct image of your company or are using selling tactics you don't support I would suggest you take it up with them. The truck that was here had only your name and logo on it, and the equipment has only your name and logo on it. The seller mentioned nothing about being an independent entity. If he was misreprsenting your company name you should settle that with him. If the more recent reports on this website and others are any inidcator, he's still out there to this day making friends nationwide.

I'm not sure what world you live in where you think that items being sold as already filled and run for demonstration ("trade show demos" are what we were sold) are worth more than new unused items. Most stores sell demo models for a discount, not a $100 premium.

AUTHOR: Sherry Thompson - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, January 28, 2015

I want to put my two cents in here.  I am a personal friend to homer galesbo of bates city, arkansas.  Homer Galesbo drove around the Tahoe area selling window cleaners door to door.  I've known Homer Galesbo since 1994 and have always found Homer Galesbo to be a man of excellent character.  Homer Galesbo should not be listed on this site as Homer Galesbo is a family man and would never resort to shady dealings in selling window cleaning products.  Homer Galesbo has 2 beautiful children and Homer Galebo has always taken his kids to church on sunday.  If anyone has anything bad to say about Homer Galesbo they should take it up with me.  In fact I think I'm going to chreate a website called www.homergalesbo.com is a great guy and anyone who doesn't like homer galesbo has something terribly wrong with them.  I've read all the reviews about Homer Galesbo and I can tell you they are nothing buy lies and rubbish.

Homer Galesbo is one of the most wonderful family mans I have ever met.  As a side note Homer Galesbo is pretty handsome too.  One time in high school we made out in Homer Galesbos truck.

Getting The FACTS Straight

AUTHOR: Tahoe Admin - ()

POSTED: Sunday, July 07, 2013

The Tahoe Companies have been libeled and defamed by a competitor, Mr. Ashley Burton of Pacific Equipment Sales of Travelers Rest,SC, numerous times on Ripoffreport.com.  We originally thought this posting by Joel of Tamaqua, PA was one of the finer pieces of Mr. Burton's defammatory garbage designed to trouble Tahoe Equipment owners.  But a thorough investigation of every garage in Tamaqua, PA finally turned up the real culprit.  I had a roughly 15 minute discussion with Mr. Joel Mashack, the garage owner in Tamaqua, PA in early March, and learned the REAL truth about what happened in this case.  It's high time that it be made public on this site so that Tahoe Equipment owners are not troubled by the libel, defammation and false innuendo made public here by this ASE Certified Master Technician from Tamaqua PA.

1)  Neither Tahoe Industries nor Tahoe Powerquip had communicated with Joel at the time he purchased this equpment or prior to the time he made his original post on Aug 12, 2011.  He dealt with a Mr. Allen Chudej, a sole proprietor d/b/a "Tahoe Power" on his equipment purchase, and the bill of sale Joel provided confirmed that fact.  Mr. Chudej is an Independent Distributor of power equipment products, and was never an employee  of Tahoe Industries, Inc., nor of Tahoe Powerquip.   Any beef Mr. Mashack had with the "sales presentation" is between himself and Mr. Chudej.  Tahoe Powerquip was simply the manufacturer of the equipment, of which Mr. Chudej was one of many distributors around the country.  Mr. Mashack received a Rigid Shop Vac in the deal... why didn't he also attack home depot / Rigid?  They too were just manufacturers who through their normal sales channels sold a shop vac to Mr. Chudej who offered it with a load of equpment to Mr. Mashack.

In the header of his posting, Mr. Mashack claims "Tahoe Industries Inc Tahoe Powerquip fabricates stories and lies about resale value", when he had never even communicated with either of these entities about "stories or resale value"  regarding the equipment he purchased, before he purchased it or after.  But then he writes this post as if he had, RECKLESSLY libeling and defaming entities who had no contact with him.  This libelous, defammatory and misleading statement would make any defense attorney squirm.  It makes myself and my firm FURIOUS that we have been publicly fingered and castigated for something we DID NOT DO.

2)  In his RoR posting from 8/12/11, Mr. Mashack claims to have "posted the items for sale several times" implying that Tahoe Branded Products had been placed by him on an online auction site such as Ebay.  However, during our conversation with Mr. Mashack in early March 2013, he stated emphatically that he had ONLY tried to sell these products by putting them between his garage and the road it's on (Lincoln Dr) in Tamaqua, PA, with a "For Sale" sign by or around them.  This reality is a vastly different "story" from the one Joel told on RoR of "several postings attempts."  Tamaqua, PA.... a small town of less than 7,100 people!  So Mr. Mashack has decided to make his "Side of the Road" sales experiment in Tamaqua PA the LITMUS TEST for whether or not Tahoe Power products have respectable resale values.   Unless Mr. Mashack can now produce online postings receipts / posting numbers which involve the Tahoe Products he mentioned from a reputable online auction site dated prior to his postings, what is the CREDIBILITY of ANY of his claims?

3)  The next lie Mr. Mashack uttered in that 8/12/11 posting was that "you can buy the same equipment painted different colors with different logos on them on ebay for dirt cheap".  By using the term, "dirt cheap" Mr. Mashack paints the picture of being able to buy "apples-for-apples" equipment on ebay for 50% or less than he paid.  The fact is, you can not buy the FIVE comparably featured competitve products, 3 of which are powered by GX 200 Honda Engines, on Ebay, in like new condition, for ANYTHING CLOSE to what Mr. Mashack paid.  His statement is an affront to truth and prudence, and carries about as much validity as the rest of his claims so far.  Unlike Mr. Mashack, we will now PROVE our case for all the world to see with substantive research on EBAY, and will select the most comparable models, then add or subtract for missing features on either side of the comparison.

A. Tahoe Diesel Generator - 7000 model Digital Control - 418cc engine with 7 gallon tank, remote control start

Pacific Tundra PT 26040 Digital Control Panel 4 gallon tank - $2653 - Add $350 for larger fuel tank and canopy. TOTAL - $3,053.

B. Tahoe Gas Powered Generator - 10000 model - 420cc engine with 8 gallon fuel tank

DuroMax 10000 Watt Portable Gas Electric Start Generator - TOTAL - $999

C. Tahoe Air Compressor - Honda GX200 - 3 cylindered head - 9.5 gallon air tanks

Mi-T-M 8 Gallon Wheelbarrow Air Compressor 6.5hp Honda Engine #AM1-PH65-08M - TOTAL - $999

D. Tahoe Pressure Washer - Honda GX200 - 2700 PSI - 3GPM throughput - 5 spray nozzles

New BE 2700 PSI Comet Triplex Pump 6.5 HP Honda GX200 Pressure Washer - TOTAL - $799

E. Tahoe Water Pump - Honda GX200 - 3" in/out, 15,850 GPH, Suction lift 23 ft, Total head 98 ft.

3"Semi Trash Water Pump by Mi-T-M,Honda Powered,28'Lift,16,560 GPH,Honda Powered = Price - $750.  Add $70, as Mi-T-M's pump only has a Honda GX160.

TOTAL - $820

GRAND TOTAL- $6,670

shipping... all the items from the Ebay venders above ship free except the pressure washer - $100  & pump  - $75.

none of the above items come shipped from Ebay venders unboxed, assembled, and oiled.  The Tahoe Diesel Mr. Mashack purchased already had fuel in it.  This is at least another $100 of value added prep, oil and fuel added to the equipment purchased by Mr. Mashack.  This brings the Final Total to $6945, or roughly what Mr. Mashack claims Mr. Chudej asked for the equipment.  But Joel didn't buy the equipment for the $6,900 Mr. Chudej asked... oh no.  He bargained the price all the way down to $4,500, or 35% LOWER than Comparable EBAY sales prices.   Why Mr. Chudej let him have the equipment for that low of a price, I don't know.  Just goes to show NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED.  And oh yeah, Joel got a free Shop Vac thrown in for good measure.

4) Joel adds the finishing touches to his "Drive-by Posting" by stating "The other problem is, nobody trusts the quality of the supposed "Honda" engines because of the proliferation of knockoff units that are such close copies", With this statement, Joel is attempting to raise fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD) that people who see our equipment online seem to believe the Honda engines used on Tahoe Equipment may be cheap counterfeits.   And he takes his own swipe at the Honda engines on the equipment by pairing an italicized "supposed" with "Honda" in quotations marks, expressing a cynical skepticism that he attempted to fan into a contagion amongst the readers of his treachery.

Anyone that doubts the fact that the Honda engines powering Tahoe Equipment are authentic need only call Rich or Joanne at Tru-Power, Honda Engine's West Coast Distributor in Corona CA, and ask them if they supply the Tahoe Companies with Honda engines.  Honda engines found on Tahoe Equipment are authentic and genuine, and made in the same Honda plants that supply every other major Honda OEM in the world.  Honda wouldn't even SELL their engines to Tahoe without testing them on our equpment first, and confirming that they meet engineering specs for vibration, heat and a myriad of other issues.  And because Tahoe Equipment powered by Honda Engines passed these tests, Honda is willing to extend its full 3 year Warranty on any piece of Tahoe Equipment that contains its engine.

The fact is, the Tahoe Companies have purchased and installed enormous quantities of genuine Honda engines since they entered the power equipment business in 2007, and if they were not genuine Honda engines, Honda would have sued Tahoe into oblivion, taken all its assets in summary judgements, and Tahoe's prinicipals would be in prison serving lengthy jail sentences for dealing in counterfeit merchandise.  Rest assured Honda vehemently defends against this type of affront to its Trademarks, and not one claim of counterfeit engines goes uninvestigated.  The Tahoe Companies have a machine population well over 75,000 in North America, with nearly two-thirds of those powered by Honda Engines.

It would be more if they made a diesel engine.  And guess how many phone calls we have had from Honda Representatives or Law Enforcement Officials asking us why our firm is implementing counterfeit engines in our equipment?  You guessed it... ZERO.  So Joel, your attempt to plant this seed of doubt into the minds of those that read your post will now be thwarted by the TRUTH stated above, and it should be painfully obvious to those interested in the fracas here that your comments are simply designed to cripple people or companies that in YOUR perception did not give you the deal that you deemed yourself to have deserved.

In our conversation in early March, you claimed that the Gas Generator had performed well over the past couple of years when you needed a generator during storm outages, and that you had removed the Honda GX200 Engine from the Tahoe Pump to power another piece of power equipment that needed a good engine.  You mentioned you had sold the Tahoe Diesel Generator, but weren't too happy with the price.  You mentioned a problem with the Tahoe Air Compressor, but refused my offer to send the new part that corrects the issue.  I don't recall the status on the Tahoe Pressure Washer.. whether you had sold it or still have it, but I don't recall any complaints.  And to me directly, you didn't question the authenticity of the Honda engines on the Tahoe Equipment.

I understand that you could have been swept up in the propaganda spouted by Mr. Burton on this and other sites, but it's no excuse for your reprehensible statements in the above posting about our firm and products.  Do you see the error in what you have stated here... and if so, what do you propose to make it right?  Your statements here have caused tremendous damage to the Tahoe Companies' reputation, and to the ongoing sales process of our Distributors, and to every relationship we possess with institutions, vendors, and service providers.  Law Enforcement Agencies around the country have even bought into your lies, libel, defammation and innuendo without a proper investigation, resulting in financial loss and severe injury to the Tahoe Companies and their Distributors and Dealers.  This can and will be proven.  How do you propose to MAKE THIS RIGHT?

POSTED: Monday, April 29, 2013

Nothing in that pictured document matches anything here. If you're going to warn people away from complaining against your company then you'd better at least post legitimate information in a rebuttal or you'll keep making it obvious that you're only trying to cover up your crooked business practices by pressuring consumers with threats that they'll be prosecuted. The problem is you can't prosecute someone who is telling the truth.

You already have my info in your sales records.

AUTHOR: Joel - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 13, 2011

There's no need to offer a reward for info on who I am, you have my info in your sales records. Since you have my town and state, and there are only 4 garages in this town, it shouldn't take you long to look it up. Good luck trying to prosecute me for anything. I have my own records of all of this, along with three witnesses. In addition to the security camera footage with you showing the price list and calling your "boss" to make sure it was ok to give us such a good "deal". We have HD cameras, so even though there is no sound there's still plenty of evidence.

The fact that you post the same "reward" rebuttal to every negative post about your company speaks for itself though.
