*Consumer Comment: Where To Actually Get Relief With Tax Masters-File Against CPA License
Why are these people still in business ?. I had a contract with them to perform certain services. After paying $2,000.00 with no service from them I cancelled the contract and they still took an additional $2,000.00 out of my checking account.
These people are crooks and should be in jail!!

Where To Actually Get Relief With Tax Masters-File Against CPA License

Tax Masters - Texas Accountancy Board complaint
One of the principals in Tax Masters is a CPA named Patrick R. Cox. In July 2005 he got a public reprimand from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, the agency that regulates CPA's in Texas. The substance of the issue is in the Board's November 2005 newsletter below, on page 12. He apparently refused to prepare an Offer in Compromise for a Tax Masters client as he had agreed to do. The client complained to the Board, which issued the reprimand. A lot of the companies in this business do not have a person with any sort of license in ownership or management positions, but for those that do a complaint is one way for a dissatisfied client to get some help. It makes sense to ask a salesperson for a company if the owners or principals are licensed to practice before the IRS. In order to do so they have to be either an attorney or a CPA licensed somewhere in the US, or a so called "enrolled agent," meaning the IRS has licensed them to practice before the IRS. Ask if the person assigned to your file is licensed to practice before the IRS also; you should never have your file worked by someone who is not licensed as an attorney, CPA or an enrolled agent.
