We signed a contract with Taylor Morrison to build a house last year. Right after the concrete foundation was poured, we found several large areas of honeycombs and voids on the foundation. We immediately reported the problems to builder. Unfortunately, it did not catch much attention of the builder.

We hired an engineer to perform a foundation inspection at our own cost. According to the inspection report, there are several serious concrete defects with the foundation, and that raises significant structure concerns. We then sent the inspection report to builder, and hope those issues can be promptly and properly addressed.  However, we haven't seen any sign showing the builder willing to solve those problems. Instead, those defect areas, including an unexplainable big hole (we even have no idea about how deep the hole is), were found being simply covered up with cement-like stuff without even notifying us.

The builders response is unacceptably sluggish. Three months after we reported the problems to builder, we realized that the builder finally decided to conduct their own tests to check the quality of concrete foundation. However, we were not even being asked to be present when those concrete core samples were taken. We found at least six concrete core samples were collected, but only five of them were submitted for testing. Moreover, no samples were even taken from the places where we found the most significant problems. All those weird things made us highly doubt the objectiveness of those test results.  The foundation is one of the most important components of the whole house, despite of knowing the potential severe concrete defects with the foundation, the builder had never taken it seriously.

Besides the problematic foundation, we also found many other issues with the under constructed house (Big bumps found on roof and wall, holes in the floor of upstairs, lots of places covered by fungi (mold) which might compromise the strength of affected wood beams and most importantly put residents health in jeopardy, etc.). Furthermore, we had agreements with builder on several issues, including the modifications we wanted to make, on the pre-construction meeting. However, none of the agreements were fulfilled, and the builder fails to provide any explanations.

Overall, we have gone through too many hassles since we sign the contract. The experience we had with Taylor Morrison was extremely unpleasant.
