Coalition of Landlords is supposed to be helpful to people with problems with the town, but instead prey on home owners and landlords that dont know what to do when the town issues a summons or puts a violation on the title of their home.

I was selling a tenant occupied house and the sale was stopped due to a violation that was put on my title by the town of Islip. The violation occurred due to a tenant having an argument with a neighbor, the neighbor called the town and the only thing the town can do is issue a violation.

The coalition claims they can have the violation removed within a short period of time for the sum of $3700.00, so thinking I had no other choice because the town can drag it out for months I paid Paul Palmeiri the money.
I was supposed to close on the house in a few weeks so I called them around two weeks later and was told they called the town and they would not remove the violation, they wanted me to pay an additional $5,000.00 for further litigation. I refused to pay anything more and demanded my money back, being all they did was make one phone call for me. I sued in small claims court but Palmeiri came in with phoney documents and a big phoney bill and the judge decided in his favor. This guy made one phone call and made $3700.00, I have to work for my money like everyone else does and I think this guy should not be able to get away with this. Paul palmeiri is a crook and a lier and I just want to warn people not to use his services, he bought himself $3700.00 worth of bad advertising.

Evidence Trumps Innuendo

AUTHOR: Freedom and Property - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 26, 2012

I have been a Public Relations Officer for the Coalition of Landlords, Homeowners & Merchants, Inc. for a decade, and as a result, I am able to speak on the subject of the report. Firstly, the report is replete with false statements. Nobody at the Coalition promised to have the violation removed within a short period of time. A violation is a legal issue, and neither the Coalition nor any other entity can guarantee the outcome of a legal fight, and we always make that point abundantly clear, even putting it in writing. We need no more proof of this fact than the fact that we won the lawsuit that was filed against us because we produced documents proving that we made it clear that we could not guarantee results. We also provided letters that were written by our staff counsel, after hours of research into the particular matter involved, informing the town about constitutional and statutory laws that they were violating by their actions.

However, should the town refuse to do the right thing, the only way to force the town to do the right thing is through litigation. Litigation almost always takes years and hundreds of hours to conclude. Attorneys and other staff have to be paid to accomplish a partys goals. Should a party refuse to accept this reality and pay for the hours of litigation that it takes to force a town to respect the partys rights, it is the party who has caused himself a just result, not the Coalition, which has done its best to fight for the partys rights.

The greatest proof that the Coalition is not interested in ripping people off is how hard we fight to prevent the laws that leave people between the difficult choices of spending money trying to comply with oppressive laws, on the one hand, and spending money fighting the government when the oppressive laws are visited upon them, on the other hand.

On behalf of the Coalition, I have been on News 12 Long Island twice and in other news outlets arguing to preempt laws that would put landlords and property owners under the thumb of the government. The Coalitions president has been in several newspapers arguing against oppressive laws. We have spoken before numerous legislatures attempting to prevent the enactment of oppressive laws, with some success in those endeavors. We have been the lone voice against the creation of kangaroo courts that would be used to railroad the citizenry and violate their due process rights, organizing and participating in rallies and petitions against these courts. We have had to foot the bill for these rallies and other activities. When those courts have been created in spite of our efforts, we have continued the fight until the operation of the courts has either been ceased or was altered. Paul Palmieri, I, and other staff of the Coalition have instituted lawsuits against municipalities in order to fight back against the municipalities unfair, oppressive, and unconstitutional activities. Mr. Palmieri has had to foot the bill for the lawsuits that he has instituted because no one else would sue. We have published newspapers and newsletters informing people of oppressive laws on the horizon in order to rally opposition to the laws. We are aggressive in informing people of their Fourth Amendment rights, which help to prevent the government from acquiring information that it can turn into violations and summonses and other tools of oppression.

Were the rip-off claims true, we would be acting against our goals by fighting against the enactment of these laws. Clearly, these oppressive laws would be driving victims toward us, and we would be silent so that we could enjoy the rip-off opportunities provided by these laws.

However, we fight these laws because the Coalition does not exist to rip people off. It is a not-for-profit organization that exists to fight for the rights of the people. It was founded by Paul Palmieri because he, himself, was a property owner who got tired of being pushed around by municipalities, and instead of trying to go along to get along like the vast majority of property owners do, he decided that he had had enough and he was not going to take it anymore.

If more people would act like Mr. Palmieri and dedicate themselves to fighting back, the towns would run out of steam and would have to respect the people and their rights. Understandably, however, many people do not have the stamina to stay the course, so we have to do what we can, but what we can do is limited. We cannot take on everybodys fight by ourselves. We cannot foot the bill for every legal conundrum that unconstitutional government has created. As evidenced by Paul Palmieris Protector of Property Rights Award, which is visible at http://www.clhm.org/Award_testimoial.htm, we will continue to do what we can to fight for the peoples rights as we have for almost two decades with an impressive track record, but when individual issues present themselves, the individual victims have to take part in their own defense and offense. They will find no better, more informed, more determined, and more passionate comrade than the Coalition of Landlords, Homeowners & Merchants, Inc., but they too must participate.
