It was a while back that I took my truck for an alignment to The Shop in Dover, Tennessee. They are an automotive parts and service business. This is also the only place in Dover, Tennessee that does vehicle alignments.

I took my truck in for service. They supposidly completed the alignment. When I picked my truck up, they informed me that my ball joints were going out. Not being a mechanic, I scheduled a time for them to repair that also. The part was cheaper than the labor and the bill totaled to about $400.

Sometime between shortly after the repairs to about two weeks afterwards I began to notice my truck pulling more to the right. The same problem that caused me to take my truck there in the first place. I tested it on a flat surface (not the roadway). I didn't slam into anything or hit a pot hole to disalign it either. My problems just returned very, very rapidly after getting the problem "fixed" at The Shop.

Now, on the day that I took my truck down there to be inspected for realignment, I have to admit the the steer tires were not the same size. Come to find out, and I have since learned, when you align a vehicle it is important that both your steer tires be the same size to get the job done properly. I must bring this up because I don't want any SPIN put on anything I didn't mention when it comes time for a rebuttal. But let me assure you that both tires WERE THE SAME SIZE when the alignment service was supposidly first done. And both tires WERE THE SAME SIZE when my alignment trouble began to reoccur. I had simply changed one of the tires between then and when I took it back and didn't know they needed to be the same tires when I brought it back. I didn't even know they were different sizes at all. But there was nothing done during the changing to cause the alignment to disalign nor was the changing of the tire related to an incident that occured to cause the disalignment. I know this for a fact. But this is going to be an easy bit of information for someone to SPIN so that's why I want to explain it up front.

I brought my truck and dropped it off. I went home and got a phone call about two hours later. I do not know if it was the owner or an employee but it was a male voice. He was smart mouth and loud from the start. He started off with hoping I was past 30 days. They have a 30 day warranty on the work they done. But I had my receipts and dates correctly in order. So this makes him mad for some reason that I am under 30 days turning it in. He gets hotter. He tells me, "Well, I suppose I am going to have to give you the benefit of a doubt but we can't do nothing until you fix your tires to the same size." That is what he told me. I just paid you $400 and you "suppose your going to give me (the customer) a benefit of a doubt." I would hope so. If you don't give customers a benefit of a doubt and talk to them the way you just spoke to me, you would wonder why you still have any customers at all?

Needless to say, after being treated with such disrespect, I went and picked up my vehicle and took it elsewhere. My opinion is they either did a poor job or didn't do the job at all. And that brings the other services "provided" for me into question also. I suppose I could give him the benefit of a doubt too since he was so kind to give it to me but I wonder if my ball joints were even going out at all? I can tell you one thing for sure though. I will never do business with The Shop in Dover, Tennessee ever again.

And for those of you living in Dover, Tennessee and need an alignment. I recommend you take the short drive to Erin, Tennessee and get it done at Hankins Alignment. They will do the job right and not smart mouth disrespect you.
